We don't go out to eat often, but when we do, it is most likely to our favorite fish & chips restaurant. Although they are not a fast-food joint, they serve in paper containers and furnish plastic forks. This article reminds me that next time we go there, even if we can't bring our own plates, at least we should bring our own (non-disposable) chopsticks so that we need not use those plastic forks. Environmentally conscientious people in Japan at least bring their own chopsticks with them when they go out to eat.

Another solution for those cups and plastic ustensils used for 6 minutes and thrown away to be burnt or dumped in a landfill : put a 25 cent price on those cups, consumers can get their 25 cent back if they return the cup after use. Or poor people can gather them and bring them in to make a few dollars. The solution isnt always technlogy, its often just simple common sense.
