MMR & Autism

It has NOT been "disproved" that MMR is unrelated to autism; if anything, the reverse is true, but none of the results are conclusive.

Far more importantly, there is a near-total lack of interest in what is ACTUALLY causing the explosion in autism-spectrum disorders, especially sudden-onset autism. It seems scientific enquiry is permitted only so long a vaccines are left out of consideration. And there is also a total lack of scientific interest in treatments that have reversed sudden-onset autism.

Vaccine Science

It's a pity that you take such a serious subject as an occasion for perpetuating fundamental misrepresentations. There is ample science that vaccines CAN and DO cause damage. For individual vaccines and adjuvants, the science of contraindications and complications in adults is by and large well understood and hence most damage can be avoided, though of course accidents can and do happen.

What is scientifically NOT understood at all is the impact of ever increasing vaccine loads in ever younger children. A key reason for the lack of understanding is the nearly total lack of scientific enquiry into the question - the only studies trotted out again and again are demographic studies of doubtful integrity and value. The PhDs you dismiss know and fully understand this. They are also not impressed when the most uncritically vocal pro-vaxers have financial interests in vaccine producers.

It's not a choice between a known risk and a non-risk. It's a choice between a known risk and a totally unknown risk.

If you think Thimerasol was removed-read the fine print

Except the Thimerasol May STILL in the vaccines. The pharmaceutical companies refused to reveal how much stock they had and refused to destroy the existing stock. They got the concession that new stock would not have Thimerasol but have refused to reveal when or even if the new stock has come into play yet. At the Congressional hearing where this was discussed it was pointed out the only reason for doing this was confounding any proof of autism dropping when Thimerasol was removed. The surgeon general under Clinton who had ordered all the additional vaccines was astonished that the vaccine companies had not refigured the ratios used in the childrens vaccines. Even bad cooks know that when you quadruple the recipe you have to relook at the ratios of the ingredients. We are not talking about the old polio vaccines here.

I am a subscriber of Mother Jones, am I am in total shock that you are letting Allen, a paternalistic and obviously paid by big pharma so-called journalist write an article!! I am deeply disappointed by Mother Jones. Allen allows "no other opinions next to his own", and he openly questions alternative medicine (maybe Mr. Allen forgot to look at conventional medicine and how it started as a patriarchal literally blood letting business). It would be interesting for many to see how much money Mr. Allen receives for his brown nosing big pharma.

Has anyone else noticed?

Has anyone else noticed that the doctors on the Vaccine Advisory Panel are required to get a waver from the FDA which exempts them for a conflict of interest? All of these doctors are making a lot of money off of these vaccines.

"It is hard to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on him not understanding it."

I am not a religious nut or some fundamentalist who thinks the government is out to get my family but there are a host of diseases that are not killers which have been added to the schedule and all need to be given before the age of 3. There is distrust between parents, who are made to feel stupid, and the doctors who will not give them more than 5 minutes at a time and do not really care what they think. So why are you surprised there is a problem? We have a real fear of what is happening and want answers that explain the situation not empty reassurances and jail time because we do not want to be forced to do something we are not comfortable with.

WHO'S an idiot??

Mr. Allen may be simply a journalist, but his research apparently involved many
who make their living studying just this subject.
That "bunch of PhD's in Boulder" are PhDs in what? Divinity? Geography? Finance?
The theory that MMR Vaccine was somehow causal to autism has since been PROVEN over and over (by a "bunch of PhD's" worldwide who's interest is in THIS field) to be incorrect. The connection between the vaccines and the development of signs of autism has been proven to be simply a temporal coincidence based on the timing of the vaccines and when the signs of Autism first appear.
It's people's natural reaction to a diagnosis like this to look for a blame, a reason for it. Hey! He was fine. Maybe it was that innoculation that he had last year. I have friends with children with this diagnosis. None of them are gullible enough to blame their kids' vaccines.

Reply to "Doctors are paid and trained by big pharma"

I do not know ANY doctors who are paid by big pharma. In addition we will not see pharmaceutical reps in our office.
In FURTHER addition, unlike chiropractors, naturopaths, optometrists, physios etc, MD's are NOT permitted (at least in Canada) to benefit or profit from anything they prescribe.
The argument that doctors have a vested interest in promoting vaccine is the last resort of the losing argument..... although, as a rural/remote family doctor in a community with a high rate of 'vaccine sceptics' I guess I DO have some interest. As I cover the hospital and emergency room I HATE having to see children die, suffer permanent disablitity, or undergo invasive life-saving treatment when this can be easily and safely prevented by vaccines.

So then, is ethyl-mercury

So then, is ethyl-mercury somehow less toxic? I'm not certain if ethyl- and methyl- compounds behave similarly with the liver, but if that's true, than I'm eating a bunch of selenium before my next dose of ethyl-mercury, because it survives liver degredation and could eat it up. Didn't mercury cause mad hatter's disease, btw? I dunno, but it sure doesn't sound like something used to prevent illness...

bal⋅anced [bal-uhnst]
–adjective
1. being in harmonious or proper arrangement or adjustment, proportion, etc.
Synonyms:
1. fair, equitable, just, impartial, evenhanded.

It means exactly what you think it doesn't according to the dictionary. And you sound like a jerk.

Vaccination article

Most articles written to genuinely inform the masses are non-biased and data-based. There are multiple, dramatic criticisms made here. The opening paragraph is a horror story, the attitude throughout its entirety is clearly biased, and you disseminate opinions like they're facts. Plus, try to even FIND a thesis statement. Did you crank this piece out or something? It seems designed to provoke fear in the beginning... by the way, why would you advertise your book in an article that provides so few direct primary sources? Who wants to read a book filled with opinionated, unsupported, angry and judgemental perspectives? Why do you attack highly educated people whom refuse vaccination? Clearly they aren't dumb and take it seriously. You call them selfish, yet aren't they themselves doctors? Some might believe in what they do. You assert that most anti-immunization individuals are lacking in knowledge, but I didn't see much data to support your argument. Here's real science, let me show you: Curiously, where did you learn theinformation for your "upshot" on Aluminum? It is conflicting with all available information on the substance (as a known neurotoxin and as a massive contributor to Alzheimer's disease). See: Inoculations - The True Weapons Of Mass Destruction Causing VIDS (Vaccine Induced Diseases) An Epidemic Of Genocide By Rebecca Carley, M.D. 01-29-2005; Dr. Fudenberg's speech at the NVIC International Vaccine Conference, Arlington, VA September, 1997; John's Hopkins Newsletter Aluminum and Vaccine Ingredients: What Do We Know? What Don't We Know? by Lawrence B. Palevsky, MD, FAAP Nov 1998; Is Aluminum the New Thimerosal? By Robert W. Sears Issue 146, January/February 2008; Banks, W.A. and A.J. Kastin. Neurosci. Biobehav. Rev. 13: 47-53,1989; Vorbrodt, A.W. et al. Histochem. J. 26: 119-126, 1994; A.J. Kastin, and P. Zatta. In: Non-neuronal Cells in Alzheimer's Disease. World Scientific, Singapore, pp 1-12, 1995. Vaccinations ALSO contain mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, sulfites, squalene, oil emulsions, chick embryo cells, even modosodium glutamate. These are not good to inject, smoke, snort or whatever. Morphine is cleaner. So THOSE are primary sources - you aren't. You seem to write in an inflammatory way intentionally. You opened with sad, scary stuff. By the third paragraph, you touted your book. You say that there are individual researchers looking into this, then contradict yourself by stating that they are lacking in understanding... yet, it seems you did not have much useful, factual information there, yourself. And not vaccinating embodying a form of selfishness is foolishness; most of us are concerned about our children, not ourselves, which is by definition unselfish. Your writings were inflammatory and filled with opinion-based fiction, but that's about it. I imagine you cranked this one out quickly, maybe not unlike the book you wrote, incidentally capitalizing on current events? What else could it be with a writing style and format like that? It does not read like any decent college paper reads, that's certain. NO ONE READING THAT ARTICLE SHOULD ASSUME IT IS TRUE. NO INFORMATION TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY, WITHOUT CONDUCTING YOUR OWN RESEARCH FIRST, IS RECOMMENDED.
