Comments on Marc Cooper article on Mumia

The anti-Mumia comments here speak for themselves. They range from juvenile blather to vicious sadism; what unites them is that they totally uninformed. Small wonder, since the same is true of Cooper's article which tries to compensate for a lacking grasp of the facts of the case by a bullying and aggressive tone.

Just one example: He approvingly cites Di Mateo, whom he seems to deem a relaible source, to the effect that the person who killed Faulkner punped several bullets INTO [my emphasis] him as the officer lay prone on the sidewalk. Nonsense. According to all the prosecution witnesses, the perpetrator DID fire two or more bullets at the prone Faulkner, but only one of them hit while the other ones missed them.

Interestingly, no trace of these bullets were ever found in the sidewalk, a fact which is now proven beyond a reasonable doubt by photographic evidence. The prosecution witnesses lied; their testimony was coached and coerced by the police.

The rest of Cooper's article reflects a similar carelessness. Fore more solid information than to be found here I refer readers to www.abu-jamal-news.com.

Abu-Jamal has been in jail for more than a quarter century. It is high time to bring him home now.

What an azzhole you must be. The fact is William Cook aka Mumia has never himself stated what happened that December early morning. The evidence displayed in court was enough collected knowledge so the jury had a clear view of the case, and then made their carefully scrutinized correct guilty verdict. And also their correct death penalty sentence to this killer. I hope (and I never, never pray, but if I did, I'd pray) the death penalty commences on this man and we get to watch him shiver in his shoes just before he dies. Oh! What a glorious day that would be in Philadelphia and the world to be rid of a no balls, coward, jerkoff like Mumia.

Let me try this again

Mumia did get a fair trial. One would have to be a jerkoff to believe this man is innocent. The problem with Mumia is that when you bullsheet all of the time, especially in grand fashion, like Mumia, one begins to believe their own bullsheet, which becomes truth in the bullsheeters eyes.
Oh yeah and I am a death penatly proponent. He should be hung half way on a Monday, allowed to suffer a few days, then hove his left ball removed (if 'en he's got any balls)cut out with a dull knife, on Thursday and maybe finish him off on Saturday. This would be an enjoyable weekend. Don't you think?

Obviously, Mummya and his brother were both physically present at the time of the murder and, if Mummya did not do it himself, he and his brother clearly know who did. If I were wrongfully accused of such an atrocious crime and my brother was my witness, both of us would shout to the rooftops the true story of what happened with identification of the true perp. Their silence for over a quarter of a century convinces me of Mummya's absolute and total guilt.

This is Mother Jones and I'm the first one to disagree with your slandering of Mumia. Incredible!

The doctors and nurses said that Mumia did NOT say "I killed the mother [deleted]er" , only later did they change their testimony. The officer who accused him of confessing did so TWO MONTHS afterward, saying he had "forgotten" until then because of the "trauma." Uh huh.

Mumia has always maintained his innocence. He is a true political prisoner because he was on the front lines at the time, reporting on police brutality. Co-incidence that they would say he killed a cop? Why would the cops arrest witnesses trying to recant their testimony on the stand? This is one of the most obvious frame-ups in history.

But your main argument is that there is no point in focusing on this case as a means to opposing the death penalty. You could not be more wrong. You suggest at the end of your article that we should learn the names of 556 lawyerless death row inmates. Are you serious? You think that's a winning strategy? Learn 556 names? Of course they should have lawyers, no Mumia supporter disagrees with that. But why not support the cases like Mumia and Peltier which are recognized worldwide as miscarriages of justice? What better way to attack the notion of the death penalty than to show that it is a tool of a corrupt, racist government and justice system? I certainly think that argument sticks a lot better than the argument that the system sometimes makes mistakes.

It's about time that someone from the left has the courage to say what many peolple from the philadelphia area already know but are afraid to say. Mumia is not a political prisoner. I am not prepared to say that I think he is innocent but I will say that he should have another trial. Mr. Cooper hit the nail on the head. Keep up the good work.

I guess in the ER, (the same one Officer Faulkner was in) someone who looked and sounded an awful lot like Mumia screamed " I killed the Mother [deleted]er'...sounds like a confession to me...

Its funny what sort of nonsense people can come up with when they combine a delusional support of the status quo with complete ignorant hearsay. I suggest everyone read the actual facts about Mumia's case, and what it speaks to in regards to the nature of the state, particularly in this country.
