All programs, accomplished

All programs, accomplished or proposed, to save our planet from environmental disaster are ineffective small band-aids on a very large wound. That wound is over population and it is the greatest threat to survivability on this planet. Everybody reading this knows the earth's population has exceeded any reasonable carrying capacity. However, except for China, nobody in power has the guts to even mention the subject, let along do anything about it.

Having a child is, or should be, the most important decision people make during their lifetime. It has a profound effect on the remainder of their life's, the lives of those around them and, ultimately, the survival of civilization.

This decision has to be made with the foremost goal of creating a functional member of society. Not because of the usual reasons: 1) "babies are fun" (people as pets), 2) "my friends have them, its the thing to do", 3) "our parents want grandchildren", 4) "it was a religious obligation", 5) "it was an accident", 6) "it may hold my marriage together", 7) "I can qualify for support money", 8) "it just happened" , 9) "my biological clock is running out", or 10) "a biological urge for a few months of unconditional love" (breedlust)".

All you non reproductive folks are completely sick and serve no purpose on earth, if your a disaster to society and are a do nothing, you shouldnt reproduce but if you are societies right hand and help your brother push forward, give yourself a successor and teach him-her to do the same. Society needs to wake up and stop thinking like machines.

This Discussion Hurts the Environment

You are busily preaching to the choir and indulging yourselves in a discussion of an issue that will not gain traction at all in your lifetime.

Worse, it sounds utterly crazy to most people, which pushes them even farther away from engaging in any meaningful discussion regarding the environment.

Do you understand? It's discussion like these that allow hugh groups of people to write off environmental matters as rediculous.

The green movement is a red

The green movement is a red herring. this 'carbon footprint' nonsense is wrong. The SUN is driving warming- and cooling- on Earth and the others in the solar system. You guys talking about stopping human growth- by all means, step to the front of the line. As for me, I'll be far from that event. Babies create the future. All this drivel about carbon taxes is gonna be the beginning of bad times- if the world doesn't WAKE UP to this global warming scam. I highly recommend that you do research on sunspots and the correlation of global weather to it.

Thank you for not breeding.

You've decided not to breed. You have made an excellent choice that is going to help the planet. You won't be bringing another greenhouse producing consumer into the world.

People who have children are foolish, selfish human beings. Think of the line of humans you came from--your mother, and her mother, and her mother (or father, whatever you prefer), going back to the beginning of life. That line can end with you. You have evolved into the highly-intelligent person who does not feel an urge to reproduce, and deplores those who do.

Unfortunately, your choice to not reproduce isn't going far enough. The government should immediately implement the following to limit the impact of humans on the earth:

We have all seen them around. The smiling mothers (oh, what evil grins) with their brood of slobbering children waiting at the bus stop, loading their consumers onto the CO2 chugging bus and sending them to a school that takes money out of the wallets of innocent, childless, earth-loving folk like you. Public schools will immediately be closed. Parents who want their little earth-killers to get educated should pay for it themselves.

Children in foster homes, the disabled, and elderly should be sent to Bangladesh or Africa to mitigate their impact on the earth.

People should be encouraged to not only not have children, but to have abortions. Tax credits should be given to those having abortions. People who choose not to have children should be economically rewarded. The more they choose not to have the more they will be rewarded.

Tax credits should also be given to anyone generous enough to commit suicide for the sake of the earth. Community euthanasia centers will be constructed (perhaps housed temporarily in the unused schools) so people can do their part and wipe themselves off the face of the earth.

The borders will be closed. Immigration and out-of-country adoptions will be banned. We don't need any more people coming to the U.S. to partake in our already bloated lifestyle.

Mass emigration will begin. The worst carbon-producers will be sent to remote areas to plant trees to offset their carbon use.

If a person foolishly does give birth to a child, the infant will be breast-fed until the age of one. At that time, the child will either be sent to live in a third-world community, or, if the child is of a healthy weight and has been organically fed, it will be boiled, roasted, baked or steamed, then mixed with locally grown, organic soybeans. Don't have a baby--eat one.

Murderers will no longer be punished. Pollution laws will be ignored. Medical care will not be given. Eliminating as many carbon-dioxide producing lifeforms as possible should not only be encouraged, but rewarded by the distribution of the above-mentioned baby-food.

Everyone talks about adoption - why are those kids parents (you know, the ones who ABANDONED their kids) allowed to have more kids, but Americans are not? I will have as many children as I want and raise them as green as possible.

Balanced humans who are healthy spiritually, mentally and physically want to reproduce. It is a primitive drive to do so- create and rear our children. I find it absurd that there are people in the world too selfish to contribute positively to the next generation. Instead hiding their reluctance to love someone else more than themselves behind some martyristic reason of being environmentally and globally conscious. There WILL BE a next generation and children born to parents aware of these concerns will be better stewards of the earth than our generation. Transferring the primitive desire to nurture onto domestic pets exclusively is a maladaptive compensation for what is a normal, healthy, and necessary part of our existence on earth.

It's about consumption, not the quantity of people. I bet Al Gore and the like consume more in one day than my small home town in MN does in a week, or even a month.

I think it's really crappy of MoJo to rag on Julia Roberts for her deluxe maternity suite after having her babies. If a new Mom doesn't deserve the royal treatment, I don't know who does. Hospital food sucks, I'd have hired a personal chef if I had that kind of money (I just ordered take out). Then 3 years later, she said she'd love to grow all her own food? And that makes her a hypocrit? I'd love to grow my all my own food too, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up modern conveniences too. Who is 100% Green anyway, it's a process & it's better to be doing something about reducing your footprint instead of just trashing people you're jealous of. Oh & better that Zahara stay in Africa & starve to death then be adopted by celebs. I love you MoJo, but give me a freakin break.

GOOD! Don't have children! It will thin out the gene pool from a long line of idiots... The human race needs to be strong. Nature is survival of the fittest. You must steal life force from something whether it be plant or animal. We are a virus to this earth, embrace it and populate... It is what we are here to do.

Yes, that Catholic comment is interesting/slightly puzzling. Is it about birth control? Not sure. I'm not sure why it wasn't more explicit.
