In the history of the Iraq War, one name is perhaps synonymous with the collapse of the Bush administration's hopes for a post-Saddam world: Retired Lt. General Jay M. Garner. It was Garner who served as the first post-war administrator for Iraq, running the country during the fateful two months immediately following the invasion before being replaced by L.

canada is a major importer of middle eastern oil (iraqi, saudi arabian in particular); canada's pipelines don't go east; most go south as #1 supplier to u.s. quebec eastward is 'addicted' to foreign oil. this is also why canadian warships help patrol the shipping lanes in the region...

Canada has more oil than it can use and anyways there now exists the hi-tech tools to put in place wind, tidal, and solar power that transforms to electricity and is more power than fossil fuels which pollute. Canada needs not to go for oil as this whole middle east war was truly about. Canada needs to re-tool the industrial revolution to wind, tidal, and solar power and leave its troops and companies to the Arab people, and their local regions independence. Canada does not need Arab oil, their mission is wrongheaded. Viva social liberation. End pollution wars, not endless wars for more pollution.

Seeking Power for advancing Greed AND pursuing Greed to advance Power is what describes American politics and politicians best, ever since the ink on the US Constitution dried up. This is a CREED which has caused immense 'suffering' within the US and around the Globe and will continue doing so till America of POWER & GREED meets its 'logical' FATE, either with a Bang or with a Whimper!

Thank you Anthony. Not surprised Pettigrew took advantage of his old job, and went to work for F@M as an "Adviser".

Unfortunately, those "gentlemen" who alledgely served our nation as commissioned officers (especially generals) are trained and encouraged to conduct themselves in this manner after retirement. Having served 25 years total, I know whereof I speak. I saw a senior NCO booted for being late for work. Justice my ass.

kurdistan has the right to purchase its own weapons, sell its oil and
the iraqi constitution recognizes the existence of a kurdish nation
what is wrongly assumed in the western world, is that they believe that we have an us or german style federal system
this is wrong
the essence of federalism is that iraq is based on the recogniction of several different nations
those nations legitimize their own governments
the kurds have liberated their region in 1991 and built already a defacto state
it is the arab people who still do not want to use their right to self determination because they clinge to their understandig of a strong central government
it is unwise and morally wrong to put the right of an iraqi state above the kurdish national aspirations

there is no central government in iraq, there is not a single word about it , we have a federal government which gives the federal government several rights
kurdish laws cannot be suspended by the ferderal government
the federal government has no right over kurdish security forces
the federal government has not a say about the budget of kurdistan

the kurdish government and the iraqi aka arab state authorities had developed a formula for an oil law
only after a delibrate attempts by some arab lawmaker to change the law and dismay the region the right to develop oil the deal fail
the right to develop new oil fields lies within the rights of kurdistan written down in the constitution

the iraqi state authorities have always denied the kurds to develop the oil and gas in the region because they assumed authority over it
for the kurds it is essential to secure its own energy needs and not bow down to pressure from the federal or better arab dominated government
the iraqi state has always withold all attemps to develop the region
the iraqis have boycotted oil and gas exports to the region,
the constition was changed and it was agreed upon that the kurds should have those rights
otherwise the iraqi state could always pressure kurdistan by setting up an embargo on kurdistan and destroy the very essence of our right to self determination
just one exemple
kurdistan has built several energy plants fueled with gas , but they were not operable because on one side the arabs boycotted the tranfer of gas to the region and on the other claimed legal authority over the developmemt of gas and was unwilling to allow exploration of gas
should the kurds wait for the arabs until they allow us to take out the gas
should we live without electricity and basic needs because of a peace of paper

the kurdish position could be read as follows
we have already faits accomplis and it is up to the arabs to agree on them or leave it because the kurds can develop it

the integrity of iraq has no higher value then the kurds right of self determination
the aricle or better the us state department wants to tell us that we should forget about history or plays down the importance of the kurdish identy to the people

we should allow the same people who long ago lost any credibility by using weapons of mass destruction on us to decide again over our faith
even our basis needs ?
what did we fight for ?
slavelike life under arab control or freedom
and as mister garner has said
we kurds have fought alongside the americans
we kurds want a western style democracy
we kurds have enacted hundres of laws protecting minoroties and women rights while cnn made a big fuzz out of it that there are female arab police officers we kurds have already female generals

freedom was albout this war was fopught for
