I was married to a man in the Coast Guard who was arrested for domestic battery while on active duty. and trust me the victims compensation wasn't easy to work with on the DD214 since his discharge didn't specifically say Spouse abuse as the reason which it won't since its confidential info. But what is really bad is that the medical benefits are only 3 yrs and I had brain surgery from the abuse and now a 9yr old to support and its hard to get help when you have a past condition and i have PTSD and can't get the help from the military but he gets VA disability each month for the rest of his life and hasn't even ever seen combat. I was beaten so bad that I had brain surgery and get nothing. there is something seriously wrong with that. Laws need to be changed and people need to speak up. I was in fear to talk because of the control of him but the fact that he would have lost his career. Most people won't come forward because of that part alone. Walk a mile in our shoes and that is the only people who will understand. I've been there..and its a strugle.
