I still hold to my idea that the best way to change politics is to change the perks. All elected officials should be paid whatever is the lowest legal minimum wage in the country, they should have the same health care options as the poorest citizens, they should have to live in the most depressed are that they represent, etc.Make them actually share the pain of the poorest and then they will have an incentive to raise all of us.Right they now they share the lifestyle of the rich at our expense and therefore can never really empathise with most of us.That is what we should actually be voting for rather than being led by the nose through the voting game every few years so we can live the illusion that we all are actually part of government. If we got to decide what politicians got paid and when and if they got a raise and what perks came with the job, voting wouldn't be a problem because no one would want the job.

There is actually a good arguement here for a King instead of a President-If the U.S. is going to continue to be a government of the minorities and special interests groups- contrary to the Constitution-why waste the money on elected representatives who serve as rubber stamps at best and blockers of needed legislation at worst. They have not served in any sense of the capacity to which they were elected and the Supreme Court is a joke that uses one part of the Constitution to do away with basic rights for minority interests as well-Let's get rid of the whole batch ans elect a President by popular vote who runs the whole shebang. The Suprme Court can be relegated to hearing civil claims and Congress cab be disbanded at huge savings!

This is disgusting. To me, this is a litmus test as to who deserves to be back after the next election. This issue separates what we want from what we don't in a very simple way. The link to those against the raise is not opening right now, btw. I hope that means a lot of people are taking a look.
