So he called him both "chicken shit" and "chicken".

I'm not sure if anyone has argued this, but it is well known that members of Congress (and of other legislatures) often don't have the time to read all bills they are called to vote upon but vote up or down anyway. In a case like this, voting "present" is actually the honest thing to do.

JS, I'd read the comments at the other site and someone had in fact interpreted it as only "chicken", based on the second part of Boehner's statement:

"...the last thing we need in the White House, in the oval office, behind that big desk, is some chicken who wants to push this yellow button."

Not the least bit important, really, but I thought I'd explain my comment above.

My favorite part of that article was:

...the few self-identified independent voters present said the comments did not sit well with them....Steve Murdoch...said after hearing Boehner's speech, he would likely be voting for Obama....Sophomore Laura Heins agreed...."

Okay, so I hope that someone can string all these names together. It would be intereting.

I don't think it's open to interpretation:

Boehner criticized... Barack Obama for... his number of "present" votes... "In Congress, we have a red button, a green button and a yellow button, alright. Green means 'yes,' red means 'no,' and yellow means you're a chicken shit.

I don't think you can read this as calling him just "chicken".

Sorry springfielder, I searched the comments for "chicken" and nothing came up -- then you posted while I was going from TPM to the target page and copy/pasting etc.

House Minority Leader John Boehner just called Obama "chicken shit" for repeatedly voting "present" (via TPM).

I'm very late to the party but pretty much the day after Super Tuesday -- when Obama magically morphed in the eyes of the right from harmless "breath of fresh air" to scary "radical mad man" -- I heard Michael Savage, if he counts as "real" in any sense, insinuate that Obama was either a communist, a terrorist, plant, and probably a crook (the least bad option, of course). Still, it was possible he was all three.

Radio host Mark Levin (no better than Savage) calls Obama a communist on a regular basis. Of course, he thinks all of us non-trolls here are also communists.

The insanity of these people is profound.
