Harry Reid

We in NV are still angered at Harry Reid's lack of resistance toward Bush/Cheney policies.
Now, Reid is speaking up, finally? With mumbo-jumbo crap proping up Republican talking points?
With friends like these, Obama needs no enemies.

What if the ACLU and the other bleeding-heart America haters convince the courts that the Muslim terrorists have been unfairly treated and even had their feelings hurt and therefore should be immediately released. I would even bet that you leftists would want them compensated with money, a place to live and free cars. Then it would be interesting to see how many of you want them in your neighborhood.

America has been weakened by Obama. Instead of looking at what has been, I look to what might occur. Because our country lacks border security, it's highly likely we'll have another terroist attack in the near future. What a feather in their caps to blow up a federal prison, free their comrades and further desimate the security of the United States. Housing terrorists in the US is a stupid idea, invting trouble.

....a Morman? Intelligence? He is a man of "faith."

Insofar as faith is possible, it is irrational; insofar as faith is rational, it is impossible. This carries over to his political positions.

The whole party is riddled with NIBYS and hypocrites, starting with Obama, the man of change, except when he become president. Here is your biggest ass.

Guilty until proven innocent

There is one HUGE problem with the GOP talking points: few held in US custody have ever had a hearing much less a trial. 98% of these people have never been indicted. Once you torture people you can't easily convict them. In the Roddenberry Star Trek world they make a point that the federation [modeled after the US justice system] considers people innocent until proven guilty. In the Cardassian system proof of innocence is required. We give Gitmo prisoners less justice than the Cardassians. The Cardassians give prisoners access to evidence against them. The GOP seems to have a serious problem with that premise. Attorney General Meese under Reagan once commented that if you were a suspect that meant you were guilty. Their agenda seems to be that if you demand evidence of guilt from the government you must be "soft on crime".

I wonder how the world of the Star Trek universe would have viewed an alien race who operated a detention facility where evidence of innocence or guilt was irrelevant: if one was detained you were guilty of a crime. It would have been a hoot to see Captain Kirk rage with indignation at such an unfair system of "justice" being utilized. It would definitely be alien in nature and provide a temptation to violate the prime directive [which was done several times because of alien recklessness]. Would Kirk and Spock have broken out all the Gitmo prisoners if the Enterprise ran across such a justice system? Would Spock approve or would he prefer that the alien system be honored no matter the injustice? How would doctor McCoy react to hundreds of prisoners being abused to death? But no matter, the federation had a system of justice that was certainly different than that employed by the US during the past decade.

Harry Reid seems to have his head up his ass about half the time. How did he ever get chosen to be senate majority leader?

I'm from the Right, but I think those Gitmo terrorists should be housed in our federal prisons. Thrown in with the general population, no special treatment, no special meals. In fact, Sheriff Joe Arpaio would make the ideal warden. But that would be considered cruel and unusual punishment.
