Wow I am impressed one of the nut cases (or is he a hired blogger?) can cut and past a whole bunch of references that either do not apply or are not peer reviewed.

The producers of filthy fossils energy have almost unlimited amounts of money to hire paid liars some with science degrees, some in Congress (Senator Inohe) and many many in the media particulary right wing con radio and FOX.

I repeat what every reputable climatologist now knows. There will be NO Arctic Ocean ice in the summer in as little as five years maybe less. Every computer stimulation of the last twenty years no matter how dire its prediction of global warming has been wrong because the predictions have been TOO CONSERVATIVE. The actual data is far worse.

Moscow - Researchers with the Russian Academy of Sciences warned Wednesday that the Earth could be headed for a 60-year cooldown, the news agency Interfax reported.

In this crusade to provide a scientific cover for political action, they are misusing the work of respected scientists who never made extravagant claims about future warming.

It is clear that politicians and activists striving for international controls on energy use (to be discussed in Geneva in July when the parties to the Global Climate Treaty convene) are anxious to stipulate that the science is settled and trying to marginalize the growing number of scientific critics. It is disappointing, however, to find a respected science journal urging in an editorial that "charges . . . that [the IPCC report on global climate change has been 'scientifically cleansed' should not be allowed to undermine efforts to win political support for abatement strategies."

New evidence deep beneath the Arctic ice suggests a series of underwater volcanoes have erupted in violent explosions in the past decade.

The salient facts are these. First, the accepted global average temperature statistics used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change show that no ground-based warming has occurred since 1998. Oddly, this eight-year-long temperature stasis has occurred despite an increase over the same period of 15 parts per million (or 4 per cent) in atmospheric CO2.

Second, lower atmosphere satellite-based temperature measurements, if corrected for non-greenhouse influences such as El Nino events and large volcanic eruptions, show little if any global warming since 1979, a period over which atmospheric CO2 has increased by 55 ppm (17 per cent).

Third, there are strong indications from solar studies that Earth's current temperature stasis will be followed by climatic cooling over the next few decades.

Not only do humans not dominate Earth's current temperature trend but the likelihood is that further large sums of public money are shortly going to be committed to, theoretically, combat warming when cooling is the more likely short-term climatic eventuality.

In one of the more expensive ironies of history, the expenditure of more than $US50 billion ($60 billion) on research into global warming since 1990 has failed to demonstrate any human-caused climate trend, let alone a dangerous one.

Yet that expenditure will pale into insignificance compared with the squandering of money that is going to accompany the introduction of a carbon trading or taxation system.

The costs of thus expiating comfortable middle class angst are, of course, going to be imposed preferentially upon the poor and underprivileged.

Active volcano located beneath the West Antarctic ice sheet

In the south polar region, Mt. Erebus, on Ross Island, is the most active volcano in Antarctica and the world's southernmost active volcano. A lava lake has been active within the crater for at least several decades. No special activity is occurring at Mount Erebus at the present time. Abstract This paper presents updated tree-ring width (TRW) and maximum density (MXD) from Torneträsk in northern Sweden, now covering the period ad 500–2004. By including data from relatively young trees for the most recent period, a previously noted decline in recent MXD is eliminated. Non-climatological growth trends in the data are removed using Regional Curve Standardization (RCS), thus producing TRW and MXD chronologies with preserved low-frequency variability. The chronologies are calibrated using local and regional instrumental climate records. A bootstrapped response function analysis using regional climate data shows that tree growth is forced by April–August temperatures and that the regression weights for MXD are much stronger than for TRW. The robustness of the reconstruction equation is verified by independent temperature data and shows that 63–64% of the instrumental inter-annual variation is captured by the tree-ring data. This is a significant improvement compared to previously published reconstructions based on tree-ring data from Torneträsk. A divergence phenomenon around ad 1800, expressed as an increase in TRW that is not paralleled by temperature and MXD, is most likely an effect of major changes in the density of the pine population at this northern tree-line site. The bias introduced by this TRW phenomenon is assessed by producing a summer temperature reconstruction based on MXD exclusively. The new data show generally higher temperature estimates than previous reconstructions based on Torneträsk tree-ring data. The late-twentieth century, however, is not exceptionally warm in the new record: On decadal-to-centennial timescales, periods around ad 750, 1000, 1400, and 1750 were equally warm, or warmer. The 200-year long warm period centered on ad 1000 was significantly warmer than the late-twentieth century (p < 0.05) and is supported by other local and regional paleoclimate data. The new tree-ring evidence from Torneträsk suggests that this “Medieval Warm Period” in northern Fennoscandia was much warmer than previously recognized.

That is why we blog. The last thing anybody in a position of power wants is to be questioned on what the hell are they doing. These people band together and have unlimited resources to ridicule and totally discredit anyone who does not agree with them. Coal ash spills in TN, brown areas in PA, oil spills in oceans, nuclear waste dumps, plastic (re dioxins), MSG still in foods, fluoride in public water not mention what else has been thrown in there, genetically modified plants, animals, and even human beings, advertising prescription drugs constantly everywhere, and the beat goes on. I will not be alive either and I really do not want to be...how much coverage on airplanes, jets, helicopter emissions in the AIR do we hear about...notta...just automobiles...

Global Warming

The problem is the lack of fairness doctrine on our AM radio stations. Those like Lida that are CON-fused by hired gun, paid liars, radio con men must have access on the radio and TV to fact based points of view that they do not now have.

Obama has made a fatal mistake for our planet, by not re imposing the fairness doctrine.

According to most recent Arctic summer measurements there will be no ice, NONE, not any whatsoever anywhere on the summer Arctic Ocean in as little as five years. With no ice in the ice water system the Arctic Ocean will rapidly heat. As long as there is ice, the system stays near freezing but with no ice it VERY rapidly heats. The ice acts as a thermostat. No ice, no regulation of temperature. Ice also acts as a solar reflector. Without WHITE REFLECTIVE ICE solar energy will be almost fully absorbed by dark colored, heat sponge water of Arctic Ocean. This coming rapid increase in Arctic temperature between 2015 to 2025 should be sufficient to melt all or almost all of the Greenland Ice Sheet raising ocean waters world wide many feet.

CO2 takes at least 200 years under natural conditions to leave the ocean. The tipping point or phase shift in temperatures is now unavoidable. The CO2 that will cause it is already in the air and oceans. Our best chance, our only chance to save civilization and most of the human population in the next twenty years is to invest in technologies to rapidly remove CO2 from the atmosphere. It is too late to only worry about reducing the amount we are producing or to take it out of smoke stakes.

Lida does have a point however about jailing Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and other "conservative" hired gun, liars about science. These people are criminal traitors to all future generations that might have been possible had they not gotten in the way of saving the planet. What they have done by taking filthy fossil fuel producer's money to convince the gullible Lidas to get in the way of saving the billions of lives at risk by human caused climate change is a crime far worse than anything Hitler, Stalin or Pol Pot did. The greater magnitude of the risk of massive death makes it so. I say that as a person who had a paternal grandmother's cousin die at Dachau just two and a half months before WWII ended.

If Obama truly understood the very significant risk of fatal consequences to many or even possibly to all of us and our children in the next ten to twenty, he would act. I do blame Obama. Human caused global warming is more dangerous to us than the current financial meltdown or terrorist with nukes or Afganistan or Iran. Obama does not get it. And no I am not overstating the case.

The problem is those who do understand have been intimidated and cowed into silence by the wack job mobs of Lidas that these hired gun con men have facilitated and empowered.

I do not know why any climate scientist bothers to do any more study. The results are in. The Lidas of the world will not be convinced by more data. Our scientist friends should stop going to work immediately and do something, organize whatever. Having a future for society's children is worth what ever risk we take today. We need everyone who understands the severity of the problem to take direct political action right now. Of course I do not expect it to happen. Too many mind impaired Lidas are gettin in the way and too many Animal Farm donkey type folks who know whats happening are waiting for someone else to act.

I have a fatal progressive immune disorder. i am unlikely to be alive in ten years, but if you will be, the ball is in your court.

Go ahead and read the article she linked to and then read the MIT study that it talks about. You will see that there is NOTHING WHATSOEVER in the MIT study of rising methane levels that remotely suggests that the current rapid and extreme global warming is "part of earth's natural cycle". The author of the blog post simply made that up for the benefit of weak-minded, ignorant Ditto-Heads like Lida.

And indeed, the release of methane from thawing permafrost as a result of anthropogenic warming is one of the predicted effects of the warming, and of great concern since the methane emissions will reinforce the warming caused by anthropogenic CO2 emissions.

But to appreciate that fact requires the ability to think, which Ditto-Heads lack.
