Um. Nuke the filibuster

Why, in all of this talk about whether the Dems have 60 votes or not (and all of the talk about the need for 60 votes all bills before the Senate), does no one hold the Senate leaderships' collective feet to the fire on the simplest solution: nuke the friggin' filibuster. Weren't the Republicans threatening to do just that over judicial nominees a few years ago? It truly astounds me that in just the course of a few years it has become unassailable conventional wisdom that a super majority is required to pass anything in the Senate. How'd that happen with virtually no debate?!?

Jeebus. Our political system is totally whacked.

Partially right

Of the two "Independents" the Dems can always count on Sanders- he would prefer that the Senate be totally a one party socialist rubber stamp but until that day he will always vote with the socialism lite party, the Dems.

As for Byrd and Kennedy being ill - that is also partially correct- aside from their illnesses they have always been "sick"- Byrd a pork barrel spender par excellence and Kennedy at least a non-convicted manslaughter perp if not murderer.

Never have.
Never will.

Any more than I'll make excuses for their identical twin sisters the Repubs.

They're all birds of a feather, just with blue vs. red feathers, and both sub-groups ought to have a little tar applied to complement their feathering, IMHO.
