"..you can get back at Keller by giving to Romney's campaign.."

Better yet, I'll write Keller and tell him I'm so disgusted with him about this that I'm going to send the large donation I was Going to send HIM (Keller) to Romney instead.

Then I'll send my money to Ron Paul, because I'm a big fan of Government by the Constitution.

Disgusted, you can get back at Keller by giving to Romney's campaign and you will feel so much better. I know, I did.

This Keller guy has caused a casm between my Father and I. My Father (nearly 80 now) gives him his money and listens to this nut bag. "To obey is better than sacrifice." Then he goes on to ask for money in this article on his site. I volunter with NFP's and believe that *helping* those who cannot help themselves is how one should live their life. According to Keller, and now my Father..."obeying" by giving a "gift" of money to Keller's bank account is. This has nothing to do with *any* sort of religion. It's a bad human being taking advantage of those easily led or less fortunate and that's all. However, if whatever God one believes in *is* omnipitent, He would be watching...now wouldn't He Mr. Keller? He's a sad man.

You right Kathy. Bigotry is universal in human nature, unfortunately. As you can see, some liberals believe that bigotry is neither good nor bad, it just depends who the target is.

"Let's leave the bigotry at home, shall we?"

Agreed, and let's also leave the religious beliefs at home, too. This round of comments goes to show that among liberals there's a wide variety of belief systems. I wouldn't expect us all to agree on theology (or lack thereof). But I would expect us to agree on 2 things:
1 - bigotry is just an ugly distraction
2 - religious beliefs shouldn't even be a part of the political discussion

Wow, no wonder the conservatives think we're nuts. Let's try not to offend everyone now, okay? Romney's not the only LDS (Mormon) politician. Most of us seem to forget that there are members of that church in both parties... like Senator Reid, the (hello!) Senate Majority Leader (a Democrat). And progressive liberals like myself who also happen to be religious (and, in my case, LDS). Religious teachings are (for the most part) fundamentally good (love your neighbor, take care of the Earth, etc). The interpretations thereof, however, are often culturally and incorrectly interpreted and applied. Let's leave the bigotry at home, shall we?

As an acknowledged Christian, I appear to have many individuals speaking on my behalf, Christian and non-Christian alike, presumptuosly declaring what I purportedly believe. Well, for the record, here is a small representation of what Fred London, a Christian man, truly believes. To whatever extent you may agree or disagree with my views, they are at least, my views, and therefore, make myself legitimately accountable.

I recognize that America was founded to a large extent on Biblical principles. Many, if not most, of our founding father were either Christians, Deists, or at least had some moral, spiritual compass.

That said, contrary to some, America is not a theocracy, nor was it ever called to be. In all of history, only Israel can make that claim, but that issue is for another time. I do not expect our president to be an executive senior pastor. Granted, if we can have a godly person who is also a competent and effective leader, that would be the total package as far as I am concerned. It also must be noted that in many instances in recorded Biblical history, God in fact used pagan kings to accomplish his divine purposes. In other words, situations can not always be reduced to mere black and white issues. I am also keenly aware of God's dealings in the invisible, spiritual realm, and acknowledge the sovereignty of God in the affairs of men.

However, on the surface, if I must choose between a godly person lacking the necessary leadership qualities and a person who does not share what we might consider as a Biblically defined Christian, unless the Holy Spirit clearly leads otherwise, I go with the competence, along with fundamental core values as decency and integrety, coupled with much prayer on behalf of this individual, which we are Scripturally exhorted to do for all of our leaders, regardless of their beliefs.

More specifically, my voting for Mitt Romney or not will be determined by my perceptions as to his competence for that position, along with a reasonable and acceptable degree of character, while seeking much discernemnt through prayer. This is my standard and approach to all who seek public office and will especially be applied to all seeking the most powerful office in all the world, the Presidency of the United States.

This is my story and I'm sticling to it!

Fred London

You have to remember that these are the very same evangelicals who blithely ignore on a weekly basis at least a hundred Levitical scriptures while condemning gays on the one that condemns gays. These clowns have supported drug prohibition - despite the total absence of scripture supporting such a position. If these clowns would only follow their own teachings they would be less problematic.
Jesus stated: tell the truth. Mao stated: the truth is only relevant when it serves the greater public good. On the lies surrounding the War on Drugs [notably the one where the lack of studies prior to bans are NEVER mentioned in curriculums or news items] they have shown a huge tolerance for public deceit. Why would anyone trust the judgment of someone who defines truth with Mao over truth with Jesus?

Just because some idiot can get himself on television in Florida doesn't mean everyone in the country has to take him seriously. After all, didn't Jeb Bush get on television? And if we got worried at every possibility of Satan getting elected we wouldn't have a president...or a vice president....or an attorney general....or a secretary of defense....or state......or white house counsel....or a supreme court......or a house on K Street....or the Weekly Standard.....or the Fox News Network......Ooouuuuchhhhh!

Karl! psssssst, Karl! ...Get that fork out my ass, will ya?

[Amendment I: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF;]

I think the framers got it exactly right, and the right reverend Keller can go pound sand up his ass, if someone else's "free exercise thereof" gives him heartburn.
