Quote of the Day - 01.20.09

QUOTE OF THE DAY....From Barack Obama, signing the papers to put himself on the government payroll:

"I'm a lefty. Get used to it."

That's for my sister. Though, honestly, after 20 years of lefties in the past 28 years there's not much to get used to, is there?

Sixteen years? I didn't realize that W. was a lefty, but I'm pretty sure that H. W. was, still is, probably.

Boronx: Sorry, that was a brain fart on my part. It's been fixed.

I've been a lefty for 40 years. I never, ever thought the day would come when I'd be ashamed of it, and regret my association with people on the left. But after experiencing the extraordinary bigotry and blatant anti-Semitism I've seen in the past month, I have become very ashamed of what I've done. To associate with the people on the left now is to associate with liars, bigots and warmongers, and those who wholeheartedly embrace needless violence against innocent people. A very sad chapter in history, and one which will be hampering the efforts of decent progressives for a long time to come.

If Obama is any kind of a lefty, then I'm Santa Claus. What absolute nonsense. But I guess people will need some time to see for themselves.

Sinister.

Man, the trolls are making even less sense than usual today. Must be all the excitement and activity, it's a little overstimulating.

I wonder if Obama had to take a drug test.

I'm against drug testing but it seems to me if anyone should have to take one it would be the POTUS.

I definitely hope he meant that in more ways than one!

Twenty of twenty-eight? HUH?

Every president since Nixon has been left-handed save GWB. (As a southpaw myself I track these things.) So when Obama runs in 2012 it will have been 30 out of 38 years.

This makes for a nice new trivia question: what do Richard Nixon and George W. Bush have in common besides being the two worst presidents in US history to win re-election?

Tom: Jimmy Carter was (and still is!) right handed.

You can always tell, because when they sign bills their signatures are smeared.

Right you are Kevin (no pun intended). Might teach me a lesson about dashing off a comment while multitasking on a conference call. My apologies.

Did he have to give his Social Security card and Driver's license to the HR lady to photocopy?

If you righties had the brains of we lefties youd've figured this thing out a long time ago. But don't worry, we think the rest of you are cute and we generally use our powers for good, so you'll be okay for awhile now.

Did he have to give his Social Security card and Driver's license to the HR lady to photocopy?

Or a birth certificate?

Don't forget about BHO filling out the form I-9 to certify that he is authorized to work in the US, plus a new W-4 and a Direct deposit form for his paycheck....

Seriously, I have heard, and believe it is true that as elected officials, the President and Vice President are not required to have security clearances, because what would the FBI do if they failed the Background investigation?

This is truly a wonderful and historic day! rich

When will my people (right-handed people) be represented at the highest level of US government? LOL

Thanks for the shout out, Kevin. I spotted that right away. Whoo Hoo! Let's hear it for lefties. But I don't write in the curved crab way, I just turn the paper sideways. By the way, isn't it great to be able to say PRESIDENT OBAMA?!!

ps. i'm a leftie too! true!

but today, we are all southpaws! r

As yet another lefty, did you all notice that John McCain is also, um, one of us? So I don't know how much rejoicing this particular factoid is worth.

I feel like the whole lefty-righty issue is dissolving with technology. True most have a dominate hand but with the use of keyboards as input devices replacing the pen and paper I wonder how long until more people will turn out to be more like myself, ambidextrous.

Ambies are okay, sure, and we'll keep the righties around too, but just don't start getting any ideas.

Cause the secret signal is already in place . . .
