Sean Hannity Is Right Yet Again

| Sun Apr. 5, 2009 3:02 PM PDT
On Friday, in Strasbourg, President Obama said:

I know that there have been honest disagreements over policy, but we also know that there's something more that has crept into our relationship.

In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America's shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.

But in Europe, there is an anti-Americanism that is at once casual but can also be insidious. Instead of recognizing the good that America so often does in the world, there have been times where Europeans choose to blame America for much of what's bad.

Ali Frick, who, like Obama, has a foreign sounding name and obviously hates America, notes with a sneer that Sean Hannity chose to highlight only the second paragraph of this before declaring that "the liberal tradition of 'blame America first,' well, that's still alive."  Nice try, Ali.  But Hannity is right: Obama may have blamed Europe second, but he blamed America first, didn't he?  What's the problem?

Also worth noting: Mike Huckabee fulsomely agreed with Hannity, and everyone knows that he's the friendly, cuddly version of right-wing nutcasery.  Since Huckabee didn't object, that must mean Hannity was being fair and balanced, as usual.

(But seriously: Sean Hannity is still obsessing over Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright?  Jeebus. Can't he come up with some slightly fresher canard to hurl into the insane-o-sphere five nights a week?  Like maybe Obama is a golem or something?  He's not going to keep this up for eight years, is he?)

Hannity is a Tool!

A tool, I say...

Obama as golem?

No. Obama can't be a golem. If he were, he would be pro-Israel, doing golemical things to the Arabs in Gaza. And we know that Obama is anti-Israel because Sean Hannity says so.

Dang you, Joe S., dang you

Dang you, Joe S., dang you to Heck! You stole my brilliant post!

Our boy, Sean

Ummm... yeah

How do you get 8 years? I

How do you get 8 years? I thought the president served for 4 years at a time. Did we hold the reelection early this time?

Thanks for the post, Mr. Drum. Maybe you'll like this email I wrote to Fox News on this subject: SEAN HANNITY SLITHERS PAST THE TRUTH AGAIN‏ From: Aaron Baker (ablegal1960@hotmail.com) Sent: Sun 4/05/09 9:48 PM To: newsmanager@foxnews.com I see that Sean Hannity has impugned Barack Obama's patriotism by quoting only the second paragraph in this series of statements: “I know that there have been honest disagreements over policy, but we also know that there's something more that has crept into our relationship. Instead of recognizing the good that America so often does in the world, there have been times where Europeans choose to blame America for much of what's bad.” This leads me to wonder: what phrase better describes Hannity: dishonest fool, or foolish liar? Other words also come to mind: a hack; a bottom-feeder; an ape-brained bully; a walking, talking bag of pus; 200 pounds of shit stuffed by some miracle into a 10-pound bag; a slope-headed thug so stupid it’s a wonder he remembers to breathe; a waste of good oxygen; not an asshole (a necessary part of the human body) but a hemorrhoid; an anal fistule; a pustule; a boil; a seeping pimple; a virus; a spirochete; a snake; a garden slug roughly in the shape of a human being; inexplicably wealthy white trash; an idiot who’s wandered too far from his village; a whore; a rightwing grievance pimp; a dispositive argument for post-natal abortion; a blackshirt; a brownshirt; a creeping stain; a knave; a villain; a blackguard; a moral void; an intellectual void; a steaming pool of dog spew; a stench; an offense; a plague; a worthless burden on the earth; a dolt; a dimwit; a halfwit; a lack-wit; a conservative commentator. All the best, Sean, Sincerely, Aaron Baker Evanston, Illinois

Isn't hate great. Great use of energy. Display of great principles. Great reasoning capacity. Great hate. As for those loons on the far right... yes, they are there... but so often overshadowed by the really great hate mongers, whiners, pissers and generally unhappy people on the left. From someone who is neither right or left... but centered on principle... keep it up folks... and start looking in the mirror.

nice one J brown

so moderate of you... "but so often overshadowed by the really great hate mongers, whiners, pissers and generally unhappy people on the left" jerk - you like fox news? Why are you at the mother jones website???!!??!?!?!? moderates suck, just make up your mind, or since, in your case it looks like you already have, don't try to disguise yourself as a moderate. The difference between left and right in this country is black and white. If you're a moderate, you either need more education, or you need to keep your tippy toe-ing ass away from democracy in general.

Everyone knows that Obama

Everyone knows that Obama was the golem assassin who killed Vince Foster on behalf of the Trilateral commission.

As much scorn as the likes of Mr. Hannity deserve, the really depressing thing is that there apparently is an audience for baseless accusations repeated ad nausium. Just like it's extremely disheartening that a sitting US Senator cites scripture to refute climate science, the man keeps getting re-elected. As much as it is important to highlight the foolishness of high profile individuals, the problems lie not with any particular yahoo, but their supports, from whose ranks any random element could be selected to replace them (even without the axiom of choice).

Hannity's a loudmouth with

Hannity's a loudmouth with occasional delusions of grandeur. But Kevin Drum thinking Obama's getting eight years in the White House is borderline insanity.

What's so strange about 8 years?

OK, anonymous and anonymous, I'll take the bait. Standing where we are now, two and one-half months into Obama's four year term, what says to you that he will not be re-elected? He's doing a lot of things and setting others in motion. They might not all work, but we don't know yet if they will or they won't. Essentially, you are pre-judging the man. Everything I've seen (other than a minor gaffe or two) says he be around for 8 years. Get used to it.

Hannity is like a circus

Hannity is like a circus chimp who somehow learned a few debating tricks. Mike

Sorry, Sad State, but there's an ancient and perfectly honorable use of one's reason known as "calling a spade a spade." As a smart Greek put it long ago: "agroikos eimi: ten skaphen skaphen kalo"; "I'm from the country: I call a tub a tub." These last several years, I've slowly come to learn the value of this ancient wisdom, and so I don't hesitate now to call waterboarding torture, or George Bush a war criminal, or congressmen who support a spending freeze in the middle of a recession dangerous ignoramuses. Moreover, I don't feel ashamed at all to hate the perpetrators of torture and war crimes, or to ridicule the economics-challenged Republican caucus. I look at myself in the mirror, and I feel a lot better about myself than in my former life as a conservative. What's more, I don't just hate the perpetrators--I hate their cheerleaders and enablers, and I'm happy to do so, because it's the least they all deserve. I mean, let's be frank here: most likely not a single member of the Bush administration will ever have to account in a court of law for the misery and death this vast criminal enterprise inflicted on the people of Iraq. All they (and their apologists) ever have to put up with is being hated by the likes of me. I'm reminded of a New York Times picture article, from the funeral of an Iraqi girl killed by a piece of our ordinance. I thought of her parents; I thought of my daughter, and what such a monstrous event would have done to me. You tell me now: what's really deserved here?

FOX ticker: Obama attacks America!!

FOX ticker: Obama attacks America!! Infamous rebel leader Obama was last seen leading a 600 strong force during their daring landing and subsequent capture of the Baltimore harbor. During a hour long blitzkrieg they stormed their way into Washinton DC on the 8:30 MARC train leaving many passengers stranded as the rebel fighters toke control if the train platform. Reports of operations around the country by special forces codenamed “code pink” have not yet been confirmed. Eyewitnesses report seeing reinforcements flow into Dulles international, possibly from training camps near the town of Chi-Ca-Go near the US/Canadian Border. Breaking news: A person claiming to speak on behalf of what he called “President” Obama calling himself “Abu Robert Gibbs” and apparently speaking for the coup leaders is making an announcement from inside the press briefing room of the white house, a translation follows: “the president is studying the reports of transnistrian pork belly tariffs” The meaning of the message has not yet been determined, expert are currently trying to figure out if it is using the same code used in the al jazeera ticker, but one thing is clear, the Obama forces have taken control of the white house...! stay tuned for more. In further news, Roger Ailes has denied invested in ducttape just before his network recommended people cover themselfs in at least seven layers of the stuff to stay safe from the terrorist.
