Lou Dobbs is a Crackpot

| Wed Jul. 22, 2009 8:37 AM PDT

I see that Lou Dobbs is continuing to take seriously the "birthers" — the clowns who claim that Barack Obama wasn't really born in Hawaii and is therefore president illegally.  I'm very pleased to hear this, since it means maybe — just maybe — it will finally make obvious to the broader world just how far off his rocker Dobbs has gone.  If it does, it will have been worth it.

POSTSCRIPT: And as long as we're on the subject, note that this guy is my congressman.  Dresses nice, doesn't he?

Every Republican candidate for office between now and 2012

should be asked whether he believes Barack Obama is the legitimate President of the United States (preferably phrased in the Charlie Gibson form, signify by raising your hand, or insist on a yes/no answer).

This issue should have died

This issue should have died a long time ago, but how come it has not been completely put away by the production of the actual birth cert.

I can only surmise that it has not been produced because he really was not born in Hawaii

You surmise poorly

The birthers will then want original typewriter, the original typists name, etc.

The COLB is fine for the US State Department to issue a Passport on but Birthers think there is something magical about the "Original".

President Barack Obama was born 8/4/1961 at 7:24 PM in Honolulu, HI, the 50th State. He'll be the President for the next 3.5 years at a minimum - Get over it.

No, don't get over it.

No, don't get over it. Produce the damn birth certificate and the controversy goes away. Or better yet, release his application to Harvard and lets see which country he listed he was a citizen from.

PS. Bet you were just clamoring to see Bush's National Guard records.

You are right - don't get over it

The GOP will just be thought of the party of nutcases obsessed about the birth certificate of a man born to a US Citizen - something they never were obsessed about until now.

In regards to Bush's NG records - I don't know why he would never release them - I guess I have to "surmise" Bush did something stupid when he was in his 20's like we all did - but instead of being a man about it he decided to hide it. But it never made me doubt the legitimacy of his Presidency by a 5-4 vote of the Supreme Court...

You mean unlike those lefty

You mean unlike those lefty nut cases who still think Bush planned 911?

My only point, friend, is that the nut cases are on both sides- only the issues change.

Bogus equivalency--no "truthers" hosting cable news programs

Find me someone as prominent as Lou Dobbs who believed that Bush planned 9/11, or desist from making such fatuous comparisons, please.

There is a huge difference

There is a huge difference between questioning Obama's citizenship and accusing Bush of planning 911. Why doesn't Obama simple come up wit this birth certificate?

Incidentally the main stream media had no problem playing up the 911 conspiracy. Sorry if you can't handle Dobbs.

He did. It's on the

He did. It's on the internet; I'm sure you've seen it.

The only justification for demanding additional documentation is that you believe the document is a forgery, or is somehow inaccurate. Which means that you believe multiple officials of the Hawaiian state government, up to and including its Republican governor, are parties to a conspiracy to conceal President Obama's true birth place. Do you so believe?

That's not his birth

That's not his birth certificate! He had the Governor of Hawaii sequester it. What is on the internet is the Certificate of Birth. NOT.THE.SAME.THING. That's what the controversy is about.

Birth Certificate

tagged as:

Let me help you: here it is.

Or if you're beyond help, try this.

Finally, something that never comes up because it would spoil everyone's fun: the child of an American mother is an American citizen even if they were born on the Moon. That's not important to Obama, because he was born in Hawaii; but if you refuse to believe he was born in Hawaii, where does that get you? His mom was unquestionably a U.S. citizen.

American fathers are not so lucky; they do not automatically give citizenship to their children. Sadly, the Supreme Court chose to reaffirm discrimination against American fathers in 1998 and again in 2001 (Miller v. Albright, 523 U.S. 420 and Nguyen v. INS, 533 U.S. 53). But that's not relevant to the Obama case either, since his American parent was female.

Keep it up!

I think this is great. I think the extremists should go 24-7 on the birther thing, and maybe even foam at the mouth while doing so. Pawn the "Daddy Party" label for airtime for whackos, whiel the Dems get serious stuff done and inch up to 63, 64 seats in the next Senate.

Besides, he has a funny name. And big ears, too. George Washington didn't have big ears.

Why would we want the controversy to go away?

That is, why would anyone who wants the right wing to be exposed fas the freak show that it has been for years, want them to stop ranting about whether Barack Obama is legally the President?

To paraphrase Napoleon, never interrupt the enemy when he is making an ass of himself in front of a large audience.

Birth Certificate Crap-a-thon

You are right, they are making an ass out of themselves. This birth certificate crap-a-thon is a tool to get Obama removed from office. They are attempting to get a huge movement going. Unfortunately, it has made it to the main stream media and that is regretful.

They will never stop--anything that is logical or factual, they will just skip over and dismiss it and keep their garbage truck running.

Most of these people would forfeit an organ to see him removed from office, which is what this marathon of crap is all about.

They have contacted CNN about Dobbs and told them to take him off their program. Hope it works. He's coming across as "off the wall".

Dobbs HAS Seen the birth certificate

tagged as:

Yes, I'm still clamoring to see Deserter Dubya's National Guard records.

But I've already seen Obama's birth certificate, and so has Lou Dobbs. I've already seen the Honolulu Advertiser's 1961 printing of his birth announcement, and so has Lou Dobbs.

But you haven't? Then take a look here.

And here is his birth announcement in the 1961 Honolulu Advertiser.

And here you go, links to an image of the microfilm of the birth announcement.

And here is how Hillary Clinton's primary campaign staff realized that the birth issue was phony, back in July of 2008.

But you know what? HERE is where you really go, absolutely the best explanation of birther philosophy available, from the Hawaii Free Press.

His legal birth certificate

His legal birth certificate has been on the web for over a year. How come you can't find it? Its good enough to get a passport. Most people in Hawaii only have a short form.

And you obviously have no higher education if you don't even know that Harvard doesn't ask what your citizenship is. Dufus.

Interesting that the

Interesting that the birthers don't even pretend to make it about 'natural born' anymore. Nope, it's all BARACK IS UNAMERICAN!!!

call CNN

and tell them that you will not watch them as long as they continue to broadcast Lou Dobb's bullshit.

Mouthbreathers of the world unite

You have your leader.

John Campbell and the Birthers? Embarrassing, I'll admit.

Still, it could be worse.
My particular cross is Peter Hoekstra (R, MI-2) who really wasn't born in this country. Immigrated from Holland at age 3. Not that I care where he was born. It's his current political beliefs that bother me.

To the credit of his good sense, Pete's staying out of the birther debate.
But have you have you heard his views on health care? Iraq? Saddam? WMD? Pakistan? Big Oil? The farm bill? Taxing the wealthy?

Sigh. Certifiably Republican - and occasionally just certifiable.
All of them.

Kevin, YOU should ask for birth cert.

I have no doubt that Barack Obama is a natural citizen, and that he is lawfully my president... and I am very grateful that it is Barack Obama and not John McCain or Sarah Palin in the White House.

But Obama's refusal simply to release his real birth certificate (the one produced contemporaneously, at the time of his birth, signed by the doctor, etc.) is just bizarre.

Instead of it being the nutcases who demand the release of the real birth certificate, it should be the normal people... the Obama supporters... who demand its release, if only to shut up the nut jobs. Bloggers like you, Kevin, should be pressuring the White House to release this document so we can move away from this absurd distraction and pull the credibility rug out from under the whackos.

I just doubt that would make it stop

They would declare the original to be a fraud, they'll demand the typewriter it was typed on, the name of the typist that typed it, the forest it came, the mill the paper was made in, from etc. And then there will be "well he showed us this, why can't he show us that arguments, etc.

It just never ends with the Birthers that deep down just can't stand having Barack Obama as President.

Silliness

Obama could have been born on Mars and he'd be an American citizen because his mother was... Of course, birthers come up with all these rules for what a natural-born citizen is since the constitution leaves the question open -- but the latter just means that law and legal precedence are the determinant. Not their opinion of what endows citizenship. And the law is clear: Obama qualifies. Paper or no paper.

Just what is it with these birthers?

In any case, does a physical birth certificate even exist? Back in the '60s and '70s many jurisdictions simply microfilmed their paper records and warehoused (i.e. dumped en mass into boxes) or destroyed the originals. Honolulu may not even know whether the original exists or not. They certainly don't want the unholy mess that would occur if official copies are considered somehow ungenuine.

There was a birth notice in

There was a birth notice in a Honolulu newspaper at the time. I tend to think that trumps a birth certificate, unless Obama invented time travel.

Hey Dan, maybe we can ask

Hey Dan, maybe we can ask Obama to show his penis at a press conference to prove he is really a man. Afterall, all the evidence we have now are not enough to draw any conlusion. That will definitely shut-up any nutcase who is thinking or might be thinking he is not a man. Next, we'll ask him to recite the new testament before congress to shut up idiots like you to prove he is a christian. Next, we'll need to request for another proof of something idiotic in nature and so on and so forth until maybe when he leaves office!

Real Americans

Real Americans know they don't need to carry around "their papers", so they lose them or never even bother to order (and pay for) birth certificates in the first place. Maybe it's different now but nobody handed them out when my children were born. You had to make the effort yourself. My husband was born in California in 1945 and never had a birth certificate until he ordered one two years ago. Geez I never thought I'd live to see Orange County Republicans acting like Communists.

Birther couture

I don't understand the comment about how he dresses. I wouldn't wear that tie, but it's not as bad as Matthews's. Nor the flyaway collar, despite Jack's derisive "Bobby's still wearing those button down shirts."

BTW, what, after all, would count as having produced "...the damn birth certificate"?

optical weenie

Lou Dobbs is BS, Larry King is all fluff and the rest of CNN is just made up of a bunch of pretenders. Why even bother calling CNN? Just read the news off of Google news.

Certificate of Birth

I was born in New York, Otsego COunty to be exact. I needed a replacement copy of my Birth Certificate and the county gave me a Certificate of Birth...are you trying to tell me that it isn't a "birth certificate" because it got me a passport and that is all that they give out. The Birther's argument is bogus...another Vince Foster.

The birth announcements in the paper cap it, There is no way that it would get in the paper on the same day as other children born that day in Honolulu if he wasn't born there... this is 1962...don't mistake it for the internet age.
