Friday Super Cat Blogging - 13 November 2009

| Fri Nov. 13, 2009 12:36 PM PST

Today is cat overload day.  For starters, we have exclusive rare footage of Domino playing with a shoe.  I've cleverly titled it "Domino and the Shoe."  And not just any shoe, either.  This one is a nice smelly shoe freshly tossed off a human foot at the end of a long workday.  I don't know what it is about human foot smell that drives cats crazy, but smelly shoes are like catnip to them.  Weird.  In any case, be sure to watch the whole thing so you don't miss Domino's grand finale at the end.

But that's not all!  Two weeks ago, we asked you to vote for your favorite Mother Jones climate cat covers — and to add your own to the meow mix. The results were overwhelming — a cascade of cat covers. Four of the original contestants tied for first place, and I've chosen another eleven for our final cat-off.  A flickr gallery of all the entrants is below, and you can see — and vote for — the final 15 contenders here.

So click here and vote! May the best cat win.

Gorgeous and funny cats in the contest. Hey, what happened to the dogs you said could be entered??? Anyway, I don't know how anyone could pick a favorite out of all the wonderful photos.

To be specific, your cat is rubbing his scent glands against your shoe to cover up all the places you walked, and your own sweat-scent. Humans have the most sweat glands on our feet, which leaves a marked trail of our passing - and in our shoes.

By marking your shoe, your cat is asserting ownership or protection over you. ^-^

Domino loves Kevin!

I can see why most people might rank this movie poorly but it all lies in expectations. I classify this movie as a wonderful "cheesy movie fix". It is a carefree, entertaining movie. The acting is commendable. There is conflict where you find yourself rooting for people and hoping that the heroine makes out in the end.

I have introduced many of my friends to my "cheesy movie collection" and they always fair well.
