MSNBC and Nancy Pelosi's Outfit

MSNBC is running (and rerunning and rerunning) a comment on the ticker on the bottom of its screen that says something to the effect of: the working class will be disappointed to learn that Nancy Pelosi's outfit cost more than an average American family's first home.
I'd like to see some proof of that. The comment is attributed to Andrew Noyes writing on Chris Matthew's group blog, Hardblogger. Yet, a search of all the posts on Hardblogger tonight turn up nothing.
Update: Just saw it again. It's probably run a dozen times by now. I'll keep searching. That's (1) a pretty ridiculous thing for MSNBC to be reporting over and over, and (2) badly in need of sourcing.

Maybe I'm still reeling from the Golden Globes, but I would be remiss if I didn't engage in some "red carpet" musings as lawmakers and dignitaries file into the chamber. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, with a carefully coiffed hairdo, was decked out in a muted grayish pantsuit and seemed ready to turn on the charm.
Vice President Dick Cheney looked dapper in his navy blue suit with white shirt and purplish patterned tie. His wife donned a classic but boxy off-white number. Illinois Democrat Barack Obama, a presidential hopeful in 2008, flashed a bright smile and gave hearty handshakes as he arrived.
Laura Bush showed up wearing a classy magenta suit with gold buttons and her husband, the star of the show, entered wearing a navy blue suit, white shirt and light blue tie?a classic look for the commander in chief.
The Supreme Court justices filed in wearing slimming black robes. Now that's predictable.

Oh good grief! Is this how we evaluate politicians these days - using the same yardstick that we use to measure entertainment celebs? Howzabout we focus on policy, character, ability, and demeanor rather than attire? I'm glad to see MoJo calling MSNBC on the carpet for engaging in such foolishness.

George W. Bush cost more to put into the White House than the budgets of most small countries.
Deacon, the first part in right on the money! We are talking about actors on the stage of the "SOAP OPERA GOVERNMENT"! We certainly wouldn't want to expect HONESTY,ABILITY,CHARACTER or just plain common sense for an actor would we? Intelligence would be WAY TO MUCH TO ASK.
