Go Deep Inside the Conservative Movement

| Mon Mar. 5, 2007 9:20 AM PST

Nation staffer Max Blumenthal went to the Conservative Political Action Committee meeting (known as CPAC) recently and took some excellent video. Yes, he has Ann Coulter calling John Edwards a "faggot" but he also has Michelle Malkin chewing him out over a kinda-funny joke, Grover Norquist saying some intelligent stuff, a dolphin that hates Mitt Romney, a dude refusing to let the video camera see his Confederate flag pin, and other delights. Check it out here.

Whenever I think of CPAC, I think of our friend the principled conservative, Daniel Borchers, who was kicked out of the convention one year and denied entrance two others because he has made it his mission to try and convince his conservative brethern that Coulter is hijacking their ideology and ruining America's political discourse. You can read our short profile on him here. It's called "Counter-Coulter."

Coulter is not the powerful Amazon woman that is protrayed. She is just a stand up comic. Please let us stop taking her seriously and the irrelevant war party. She is our "Ana Nicole Smith". Let us stop being obsessed about her. What are the Democrats doing to get us out of Iraq? Some more boys died today. Let us keep the eye on the ball and stay focused.

Coulter is an attention-seeking nitwit who spews outrageous comments primarily for her own personal gain, all the while pretending she is a sincere spokesperson for conservatives. I tend to categorize her as part of the same group of windbags that also includes Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh. I would stop short of describing her as a comic because she's simply not funny.

And a question for "starting to lose it": why is it that you ask what the Dems are doing to get us out of the war in Iraq? Why don't you ask what all of our politicians are doing, including Republicans and Independents, to get us out? I agree that the war is much more deserving of the Nation's attention than Ann C., but I think we should be challenging all the folks who toil on The Hill to provide answers. Anything less is just partisan baloney.

The Republicans are the party of War. The people voted for the Democratic Party to get us out because the Republicans are the War Party. The Democratic Pary is the only game in town(control the Senate and the House) and our only REALISTIC hope.
