McCain's Free Ride (in the MSM) on Rod Parsley
John McCain has still not had to deal with his Rod Parsley problem. One reason he's been able to avoid controversy about his campaign connection to a megachurch pastor who has called for the eradication of the "false religion" of Islam is that major media outlets have not covered this story.
Media Matters, a liberal news-watching outfit, reports that a March 25 search of the Nexis database shows that
The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, NBC, ABC, and The Wall Street Journal have not reported on Parsley or noted his comments in the context of McCain's campaign. A March 17 USA Today article reported only that Parsley was "accused of urging war on Muslims."
MM adds, "The media have devoted extensive coverage to Obama's supporters, but have failed to report the controversial comments of supporters of McCain." And McCain's campaign press office refuses to take my calls regarding Parsley. On this matter, the Not-So-Straight Talk Express has so far gotten a free ride.

The only two problems with your contention that this "big story" hasn't been adequately covered are 1) It's not a big story and 2) it has been extensively covered.
Poeple who are paying attention to politics in March (not to be confused with regular folks) know that Rev. Parsley has endorsed Sen. McCain. They either approve, disapprove or don't care. Mostly the latter
This "issue" has been covered by PBS, MSNBC, CNN, WaPo, CBSNews.com as well as countless newspapers around the world. Truth be told, Mr. Corn was about two weeks late on this story. Rev. Parsley was first seen with Sen. McCain a month ago.
You have done well to turn this into something more than a two-day story, but enough already. Desperation and delusion don't become you.
You should have taken that approach when they attempted to destroy Obama for Wright's Discression. Rod Parsley is a mindless, hateful polichrisitan who borders on insanity, or technically, delusions of grandeur. This guy actually "commanded" folks to give money, and would like to make persecuting people who are different than "his way of life" (coined by mindless, "Godless", republican polichristians)legal. McCain without a doubt is getting a free ride.
FWIW Eve I think the Rev. Wright story was way overblown as well. It wouldn't have happened if we weren't in the middle of a six-week break between primaries.
Don't believe the hype about Rod Parsley. He doesn't command people to give money and he champions as many liberal causes as conservative causes. The Second Chance Act just passed by Congress was a prime example. Nobody on the liberal side of the political divide has honestly examined him, least of all Mr. Corn.
Like I said, the only reason this story is not gaining any traction is because so many Americans secretly agree--Islam is the enemy and Muslims, right after they pick up the pieces of their dead relatives, want to conquer and destroy America.
America has bought wholesale the Bush Amdnistration lie that Islam is the enemy of freedom, of the United States.
For the exception of a few hundred radicals, most of them just want to be left alone to govern their own countries, do what they want with their own oil and their own women, however abhorrent or despicable that may be to us. They just want US out! You see, we're the one's always over there blowing shit up!
