Is There Satanic Symbolism in the GOP's Logo?

Something's wrong with the Republican logo. The stars are upside down. Five-sided stars that point upwards—like those on the Democratic donkey and the American flag—traditionally symbolize the forces of good. An overturned pentagram, however, represents the goat's head of Satan and the forces of evil—and there are three on the Republicans' elephant.
The GOP's stars weren't always upside down; some say the change occurred around 2000. When I called up the RNC to ask about the logo's history, staffers invariably said, "we'll have to get back to you on that" and never did. "Huh, that's interesting," said one, who clearly hadn't noticed Satan hiding in plain view.
"I have a feeling some neo-pagan democratic designed this logo," wrote a commenter on the conservative web site Free Republic. Besides like-minded rants that the design is a huge slap in the Grand Old Party's face, some online chat-room goers speculated that the inverted stars are linked to secret society symbolism.
In any case, the stars have not only turned for the Republicans: A Hillary Clinton website featured a photo of an American flag with upside down pentagrams at the time of the New Hampshire primary.

dude - this is stupid. if Mother Jones wants to try and distinguish itself with journalistic integrity and a supposedly non-partisan bias, this is just plain stupid. I am as disappointed with the republicans as any thinking human, but don't make lame posts like this it just adds salt to the divide.
Honestly. You really need to see pentagrams to figure out these people have no souls? You can't look at our poverty-ridden, poor health-ridden, financially raped, infra structurally-devastated, corporate-driven plutocracy to discover that Hell's fingers twine through the hearts and minds of politics? I could use some peace and quiet - exactly what ignominious spot did you find to keep your head in the sand while they gleefully disemboweled the wealth of this country for the last century? Must be nice.
Wait? I think it's a fair question. Why the change? I've been a Republican for 20 years and am more than a little curious as to why the stars changed. Even if it doesn't specifically indicate a "satanic" reference, the fact that it is commonly thought of that way makes me wonder why they would change it.
There was a time, back in the 60's and 70's when there were very few guys unconventional enough to pierce their ears.
Some of us did anyway, and which ear you chose to pierce bore no symbolism to anyone, or any group.
Then, sometime in the '80s when it started to become commoneplace, someone decided there was a 'secret code' involved, and a right ear piercing indicated a gay orientation.
Consequently, many straight guys who had pierced the right ear when it bore no significance stopped wearing a ring in that ear to avoid being wrongly identified under a "well established" code.
Could it be that the star orientation held no widely recognized significance when the logo first started being used? And then a bunch of after-the-fact-know-it-alls decided it signified something that was never meant?
No, because the point-down
No, because the point-down star has been a symbol for centuries.
If you're going to ask 'why
GOP
Nah, the GOP is just trying to capture the Pagan/Wiccan vote through subliminal messaging. Because the pentagram is the Wiccan symbol that was stolen from us and then declared "evil" by the church. But honestly most of us don't care whether it's point-up or point down. Oh, and most Satanists are not "evil". And Wiccans are not Satanists. And we vote broadly, though the Repulicans claiming we have secret agenda to steal elections doesn't exactly attract us.
