Dear Lord, Glenn McCoy. That Is One Nasty Cartoon
Take a look at this.

If there is some point here relevant to the headlines — beyond the fact that Obama is pro-choice — I don't know what it is. I'm not sure it matters. This is so foul is goes beyond any standard of good taste and common decency. I tend to give satire a pretty wide berth; this is beyond the pale.
Barack Obama beating fetuses with a bloody baseball bat in a dumpster? I can't even look at it for more than a few seconds.
Here's the thing. A few years back I had a coworker who wrote a feminist blog on the side. We used to joke about the way hardcore pro-lifers saw her, as an activist for abortion rights. "They probably think you eat fetuses in a bowl for breakfast," I would say. "With chopsticks!" she would respond.
We knew it was over the top. It was ridiculous. It was parody. And apparently, stunningly, it had elements of truth.
Update: Here's what this is about. As you would guess, it in no way justifies this cartoon. And EF makes a great point in the comments — if Democrats produced something equally disgusting about John McCain, there would be a backlash with serious consequences. It would start, of course, with Fox News, the in-house network of the Republican Party.

Conservatives, being better at this stuff than us, would be making this a national scandal and getting reporters to pester liberals to denounce it. I don't know how to do it, but I'd like to get reporters asking conservatives about this cartoon. Tie it in to a bigger issue about the lack of civility in modern politics and how the way McCain and his supporters campaign contradicts how they said they would campaign.

The cartoon depiction of a baseball bat is no worse than what actually happens sometimes.
"Gonzalez and her associate, Siomara Senises, were involved in the death of a baby born alive in July, 2006, at a Hialeah, Florida, abortion clinic, which is now closed. That death was discovered when an anonymous call was made to the police, who discovered that an infant was born alive during a late-term abortion, placed in a biohazard bag, and tossed onto the roof of the abortion clinic by Gonzalez in order to avoid detection. The mother of the dead baby girl, who was named Shanice Denise Osborne, has since come forward and corroborated the story."

Well lieral members, what do you think about your support of the MURDER of babies now..?
Can't handle the truth..?
That is the reason no one is making a big stink about the cartoon.
You actually DO SUPPORT the MURDR fo babies..HUH?
Bill
Svend, trying to compare that isolated incident with the medical procedure called abortion is a little over the top.
And, Bill Nigh. Good ole Bill Nigh. On the one hand, the first to accuse liberals of being unrealistic, emotional idealists. Yet, when it comes to this subject, he falls back on emotionally-charged language to try to win his point. How come when it's abortion, you think people are either 'opposed to it' OR they 'LIKE MURDERING BABIES'? But when it comes to war, people aren't as easily split into two such polarized camps, i.e, being those who are 'passivists' OR those who 'LIKE KILLING OTHER PEOPLE'?. No, then it's patriotism. Bill Nigh, the joke that's just not funny.
I am a farmer and a shepard, sheep and goats. When the lambs and kids are born in the spring ,I do not spend my time thimking about the ones who were aborted or to weak to live, instead I take care of the mothers of the ones who madeit I bottle fed the ones who are weak.Seems to me as agood shepard the christains first responsibilty is to care for the ones who are here. This wouldtake up a lot of their time. I think this is the problem .While you are pineing over the lost ones, the farm is coming down around your ears. The field has not been plowed, there is no hay in the barn,The pasture is grown up and the varmits are killing last years lambs. The bank called ." If you love me feed my sheep" Jesus would understand he takes care of the lost one ,you take care of the rest
Here's the moral of the story. Millions, maybe even 10's of millions, of citizens will vote based on abortion issues, regardless of the fact that they lost their home, their savings, health care, education, and even children because of the policies of those who claim to care about infants that they will never see, nor care about, nor fund. It is the same with homosexuality and guns. The majority of voters have one swing issue they align themselves with, then vote according to that issue. What will you do to change that?
good point Justin. on to your point i would like to reiterate what Zli said: what about 6 million+ babies that have been aborted since Bush took office with his Republican majority congress?
if Republicans really were so adamantly pro-life (and really believed abortion to be murder), why aren't they staking their careers to advance their *values*? Is abortion illegal since they took office? What advancement have they made regards to the so called family values? moreover what do they mean by family values? do they mean ban on gay marriage, pro-gun stance, and or de-regulation? the last time I checked there's no correlation between guns, de-regulation and even gay marriage to the word family (really what does ellen degeneres marrying another girl have to do with stable families with children who have enough to eat for dinner?)
they say they're morally right but other than lip service to their values they haven't made any changes based on what they purport to believe in (other than the grassroots levels). so basically while the average people do all the work, the Congress, the party take all the credit all because they make great speeches about how they believe in the same things as the people who do all the work believe in. (by people who do all the work i mean community organizers, anti abortion activists who are prominent in their communities)
Republicans=sychophants in power who tell religious conservatives what they want to hear then abandon them when these same folks lose their homes or need some assistance (ehem, blame *SMALLER* government).
It's a fact that Sen. Obama argued against the "Born Alive" legislation on the floor of the Illinois state house prior to his election to the US Senate. The legislation required that care be given to infants who survived abortion through early induced delivery. (The practice of allowing a surviving infant to perish in a bucket or lying uncovered and exposed on an out of the way shelf brought about the legislation).
I am reminded on how many of
