John Lewis: John McCain's Wise Man?

| Mon Aug. 18, 2008 2:08 PM PDT

johnlewis250x200.jpg John McCain says he plans to consult with Democratic Rep. John Lewis when he's president. That's news to Lewis.

During Saturday's presidential forum at Rick Warren's California megachurch, John McCain was asked to name the "three wisest people" he would "rely heavily on" if elected president. He didn't cite close confidantes Phil Gramm and Randy Scheunemann, possibly because they have gotten McCain into trouble politically. Instead McCain chose Gen. David Petraeus; former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, one of his economic advisers; and Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), a leading figure in the civil rights movement.

This is not the first time McCain has invoked Lewis' name on the campaign trail. Earlier this year, in Selma, Alabama, he told the story of civil rights marchers trying to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge in a 1965 march from Selma to the state capital of Montgomery. Waiting at the crest of the bridge were a brigade of police and state troopers who meted out an attacks so violent that the day is known today as Bloody Sunday.

Central in McCain's telling was John Lewis, a man of just 25 who was at the front of the march and absorbed the first blow. Millions of Americans, McCain noted, "watched brave John Lewis fall."

But even though McCain has now repeatedly cited Lewis as a role model and potential adviser, McCain has not established a relationship with the Georgia Democrat in the 22 years they have served in Congress together. At the time of McCain's Selma speech, a Lewis associate told my colleague David Corn that McCain has never been close to Lewis. Lewis was not told about McCain's speech in Selma in advance, nor was he invited to attend.

In response to McCain's latest invocation of his name, Rep. Lewis said in a statement requested by Mother Jones, "I cannot stop one human being, even a presidential candidate, from admiring the courage and sacrifice of peaceful protesters on the Edmund Pettus Bridge or making comments about it." But, he added, "Sen. McCain and I are colleagues in the US Congress, not confidantes. He does not consult me. And I do not consult him."

It took McCain years to fully embrace the goals that Lewis was fighting for on Bloody Sunday. In 1983, McCain voted against making Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday a national holiday, in opposition to most members of Congress, including many of his Republican colleagues. In 1987, the governor of Arizona repealed the state's recognition of King; McCain supported the move. It was only in 1990, 25 years after Lewis marched in Alabama, when Arizona reversed its decision that McCain changed his own stance on the issue.

And there are, of course, the fundamental differences between John McCain's political philosophy and the goals of Lewis and his fellow marchers. Lewis hoped that the federal government would use its influence to protect the rights of disenfranchised individuals; he sought an expanded role for government because of what he believed was government's power to do good. It explains, in part, why Lewis is a Democrat today and supports Barack Obama for president. McCain, on the other hand, is a fanatical enemy of government spending and has said, "I've found over time that less government involvement is better." It's a philosophy that would have left Lewis and his cohorts out in the cold.

Clearly McCain Lies to The Public Quite Often and Is So Comfrotable Doing It. He really believes He Can Fool Americans for another Bush Term

McCain Turns Back On Clean Energy

John McCain recently tried to underscore his seriousness about pushing through a New Energy Policy, with strong focus on More Drilling For Oil, by telling a Motorcycle Convention that Congress Needed to come back from Vacation Immediately and do something about America's Energy Crisis. "Tell them to come back and get to work!."
Sorry, But I can't let that one go by. McCain knows why.

It was only 5 days earlier July 30, 2008 that the Senate was voting for the 8th time in the past year on a broad, Vitally Important bill S.3335?that would have extended Investment tax credits for installing Solar Energy and the production tax credits for building Wind Turbines and other energy Efficiency systems.

Both Wind and Solar Industries depend on these Credits?which "Expire" in December, 2008?to scale their businesses and become competitive with coal, Oil and natural gas.

Unlike Offshore Drilling, these credits could have IMMEDIATE IMPACT on America's ENERGY PROFILE.

McCain did not show up for the Crucial Vote on July 30, and the RENEWABLE ENERGY BILL WAS DEFEATED BY THE REPUBLICANS FOR THE "8TH-TIME" In fact John McCain has a Perfect Record on this RENEWABLE ENERGY LEGISLATION.

McCain has missed all "8" votes over the last year?which effectively counts a a NO vote each time.

Once McCain was even in his office in the Senate and wouldn't leave his office to vote.

"McCain did not show up on any votes," said Scott Sklar, President of the Stella Group, which tracks Clean Techonology Legislation. Despite that McCain's Campaign Commercial running during the Olympics shows a Bunch of Spinning Wind Turbines?the Very Wind Trubines that he would not cast a Vote to Subsidize.

Barack Obama voted 3 times in favor of the Renewable Energy Legislation.

"The fact that Congress has failed 8 times to renew them is largerly because of HARD CORE REPUBLICAN SENATORS who either don't want to give democrats such a victory in an Election Year or simply Don't Believe in RENEWABLE ENERGY.

What impact does this have? In the Solar Industry today there is a Rush to finish any project that would be up and running by Dec. 31, 2008---when the Credits Expire---and most everything beyond that is now ON HOLD.

Consider the Solana concentrated Solar Power Plant, 70 Miles Southwest of Phoenix in McCain's Home State. It is the Biggest Proposed concentrating Solar Energy Project ever. The farsighted local utility is ready to buy it's power.

But because of the REPUBLICAN SENATE'S REFUSAL TO EXTEND THE SOLAR CREDITS," we cannot get our Bank Financing," said Fred Morse, Senior Adviser for the American Operations of Abengoa Solar, which is building the project. Without the credits the number don't work."
Some 2,000 Construction Jobs are on Hold.

Sadly Pastor Warren not only lied once (about McCain being in the cone of silence, he lied twice. And the second one is even more ominous. Most of the questions posed to the candidates were not identical or even the same as the Pastor stated they would be. For instance on the abortion question:

QUESTION ABOUT ABORTION TO MCCAIN:
FRAMING:
LET'S DEAL WITH ABORTION. I, AS A PASTOR, HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS ALL THE TIME, EVERY DIFFERENT ANGLE, EVERY DIFFERENT PAIN, ALL THE DECISIONS AND ALL OF THAT?.40 MILLION ABORTIONS SINCE ROE V WADE. SOME PEOPLE WHO? PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE THAT LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION WOULD SAY THAT'S A HOLOCAUST FOR MANY PEOPLE.

Q: AT WHAT POINT IS A BABY ENTITLED TO HUMAN RIGHTS?

QUESTION ABOUT ABORTION TO OBAMA:

NOW, LET'S DEAL WITH ABORTION. 40 MILLION ABORTIONS SINCE ROE V. WADE. YOU KNOW, AS A PASTOR I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS ALL OF THE TIME?ALL OF THE PAIN AND ALL OF THE CONFLICTS. I KNOW THIS IS A VERY COMPLEX ISSUE--40 MILLION ABORTIONS (repeated for emphasis).

Q: AT WHAT POINT DOES A BABY GET HUMAN RIGHTS IN YOUR VIEW?

So GET and ENTITLED were interchanged as well as his asking Obama HIS VIEW, whereas he did not ask McCain his view. Even more atrocious was how the question was framed very differently.
Pastor Warren also gave McCain the answer in his question. And McCain echoed it. There is no excuse for the media not reporting the truth on this issue.

Most of the other questions are also not the same and framed entirely different.Read the transcripts and view the video streams.

This is a sad day in America when a Pastor, on public televisions, lies.

He needs to come clean!

The man (McSame) can't help it...he's a loon!!!

Maybe Lewis is the only black dude McCain knows?

I think he knows Obama....um, maybe not.

As an undecided independent and former republican, I am becoming increasingly frustrated with John McCain. The people of the USA deserve a president who will take action to bring us out of the muck of the Bush years, not resort to political pandering to appease the few. Why the hell does he need to include Lewis as a confidant? Is he planning to bring back slavery?

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=93708729

I am including the link regarding Cindy McCain's half sister because as a man who says he believes in family values I find this just plain appalling. I have a half-brother and a half-sister. I have always acknowledged them as my family.

Lyssa, I agree with you completely and am glad you provided a link. It was good information. It somehow strikes me as just right, considering the true 'values' of your average wealthy conservative, that they would not acknowledge their 'poor relations', especially if in doing so, they helped to protect the gross fortune they inherited.

Truthfully, I am very surprised McCain is evening attempting to pander to black voters.

Plus one McCain!

Please. We have to put this in perspective. McCain does not come in direct contact with many blacks, other than those that may work as servants in any one of his mansions. An African-American congessman could at the very least be considered a professional colleague of Senator McCain. McCain just went one step further and, relative to other minorities, considers Representative Lewis a close friend. Either that, or he really does have a black man as a confidant, but just can't tell him apart from John Lewis.

John McShame does not consult Black people or poor people about anything. Period.

So McCain fought for in the Vietnam War for the freedom of a people continents away, but refused till decades later to honor the courageous struggle of MLK for the freedom of a people in America? Huh?

John McCain considers John Lewis wise, wise in what ? McCain votes against Civil Right legislation and the Martin L. King Jr. holiday twice. I personaly belive that he knew some of the questions before he was seated to respond. He cheated. What if McCain would of said to Rick Warren that I know some of the questions already ? Please ask me something I don't know.He probably could have went up in the polls and left Obama in the wind. But because of political interest he would rather compromise to his conservative audience, to appear as if he is quick and agile in the brains....

I predict Obama will beat john McSame by a land slide victory come November...

"People vote your heart and not your head"

I have watched the forum several times to make sure that my suspicions when I first watched the forum were unchanged. While Obama was interviewed, Senator Obama listened to each question attentively and took few moments to think about the proper answer. Mr. Rich Warren seemed somehow impatient... He cut off Obama several times while speaking, and even made some inappropriate comments about the length of an answer and there was that Mr. Waren's jaw working... after Obama finished answering each question.
On the other hand when Mr. Waren asked Mccain a question, it was Mccain who cut Rick Waren short. Mccain knew all the questions and had rehearsed the answers before coming to the forum. Mr. Waren had shining eyes when he listened to Mccain's answers. He allowed Maccain tell his "stories" without interruption.
Senator Obama looked at Mr. Waren in the eyes when he talked. His answers were thoutghful, wise and very deep.
One could feel this man has a big heart. Mccain on the other hand looked at the audience not looking at Mr. Waren, was shooting his rehearsed answers as if he was shooting at the audience from his waist with an Uzi.
The American people are much smarter than what Mr. Waren or senator Maccain give them credit for. There was a grave sin committed in this forum.
Sorry Mr. Waren You let people down. I don't trust neither you nor Mccain.

Amazing how McCain, NOW, and Romney, EARLIER, try to use associates of MLK to sway votes. The problem is --- they are/were NOT honest.

In the past, McCain has done everything in his power to suppress African Americans (according to his voting record), and NOW he sincerely believes that NO ONE will research this. McCain simply used another moment to insult voters. Perhaps he's banking on the audience of the forum to spread his lies.

This is truly sad --- and I'm a white, 63 year old male who will NOT fall for LIES.

McCain the erstwhile GOP "maverick" voted to confirm 3 of the 4 Supreme Court justices that he said, if he were elected president, that he would not have nominated.

I am losing faith in Americans. The world is watching us and calling us stupid, and we never fail to prove it. I cannot fathom why people revere McCain. Nothing about him seems sincere. He is obsessed with war. He lies, then says people are lying about him. He blasted NBC as being "partisan" for questioning his integrity, yet has yet to lambast FOX News for unprecendented bias. He is an opportunist who hides behind his POW experience to guilt people into buying his hot garbage. His "wise men" are a soldier, a black man, and a woman - how perfect, all bases covered. He cheats at a religious forum, then isn't smart enough to play it off. Most of all, he is nothing like the true Christians I know. Obama seems caring, genuine, open-minded and deliberate; McCain seems rash, juvenile, entitled and desperate. Yet the American people, so-called Christians included, are lining up behind the lesser of two men. I wonder why...

He's not pandering to black people, he's pandering to white people to make them feel better about voting against Obama so they can continue to think they have no prejudices. It's some bizarre twist on the, "I'm not prejudiced, I even have black friends." argument.

We all have prejudices, the best we can usually do is acknowledge that and try to not let our irrational fears rule us.

I have a theory, though it is admittedly a stretch. Last week, a blog entitled "Black Men For McCain" complained that McCain's website did not have an "African-Americans For McCain" T-Shirt. Apparently within hours, one became available in the online store. Now, two days later, McCain mentions a seemingly random black dude as one of the three wisest people he knows? Could it be? Nah.

How dare you question why a POW like McCain would cite Lewis! The man has already proven his dedication to his country, and has earned the right to say anything he damn well pleases. All who hear his words must accept his statements as immutable truth.

Hey, if Rudy could embed "9/11" in every sentence, why can't John embed "POW" in all of his...

This is just one more lie in a long string of lies from McCain. The corporate press, however, will not spend one minute on it, since God forbid it sheds a bad light on their friend JMcC. God help us all with the media we have.

John McCain must think people are fools. His pandering and patronizing name-dropping and photo-ops are contemptuous insults. He took pictures with the lovely African American ladies of Gees Bend, Alabama. Too bad he didn't lift a finger to help them reopen the ferry which had until recently been closed to them for years.

Maybe because he's a perpetual stretcher-of-the-truth??

I can't read it but, your post is certainly lovely to look at.
I presume you know English, so what did you write?

"Does he plan to bring back Slavery"! Oh my God, that was so hilarious I spit on myself!

Only 1 point of disagreement. It's about McCain being opposed to government spending--he's not. His differences with John Lewis and the Democrats is not over the amount, but where the money goes. McCain wants to spend more and sees government as the funnel to support private contractors who are politically aligned. In this sense, he is no different than the Bush/Cheney neocons.

Look! Cindy's father used McCain. Gave him "A shot". Took him to the top...Bought and paid for!

Every politician is! McCain isn't any different. But...

Unless he knows another John Lewis, he threw out a name, like an asshole.
How low can ya go?

this is so typical of McBush1 throwing out the names of African Americans or talking up AA interest and issues as if he gives a damn or knows what the hell he is talking about.

I cannot believe this: he sat in that church on Saturday talking about John Lewis as if he is personal frien/confidante - when nothing could be further than the truth.

would say he should be ashamed of himself, but old McSurge has none.

That McCain had such a ready answer to the "3 wise people" question, and that he included someone he is unlikely to have thought of on the spot (Lewis), makes many of us wonder whether he had the questions ahead of time, so he could prepare his answers.

"If and when they respond, I'll update the post."

You'll be spared that update.

They'll never respond to this because it was a lie the moment McCain uttered it.

It's the Bullsh_t Express. Lie, smear, flip-flop and avoid any accountability. With credentials like those he's truly a worthy successor to Bush.

Thank you for posting this sir. I'm glad there are still honest and sincere peopl

i think he must have another (white) John Lewis in mind!!!!!

A lying, cheating, pandering, patronising POW...

McCain just can't seem to stop himself. It shows how completley divorced from reality he is.

As long as he keeps on talking, the media does not care how untruthful and insane his verbal vomit is.

Just one more piece of "buffalo chip" from the "straight talk express". No wonder he wanted Cindy to participate in the Miss Buffalo Chip contest. She could sit on top the mile high pile, as first lady of the chips!

Mccain is making a fool of journalist and everybody else. Still reporting on Mccain's lies, gaffes, mistakes is a joke. Mccain makes them repeatedly and you reporters and journalist keep reporting it. Its beggining to become a joke but the joke is on you.

The McCain campaign knows that he get away with a lie because the vast majority of the audience to which it was targetted will never hear the truth. When a lie is promulgated on air the truth rarely catches up to the original audience. More so in this case because the evangelicals disproportionantely watch FOX NEWS. You think they will hear the truth from FOX?

I am deeply dissapoited by Rick Warren. He knows Mccain is not in "Cone of Silence" and he misinformed us that a coin was flipped to determined who goes first, and it was Obama. But he was asked on CNN how this could be possible when Mccain was not in the building? and he confessed that the coin was flipped by himself and some members of his church months before the interview. Shame on you Rick Warren, you are not a good christian, allowing these deceit to take place in the house of God is the worst evil. But i thank God that at last we know who you truly are. And stop fooling yourself, your behaviour is in the book of revelation. And by there deeds we shall know who they serve.

To Mike regarding your Vietnam comment:

Right on! You are the first person to ever make that distinction.

Since Lewis himself has called McCain out for his "no cotact" foul, why hasn't the McCainStreamMedia pointed out the pandering McAin has once again offere4d an audience of voters in lieu of a serious answer? Will NBC allow the McCain camp to "protest too much" and squash objective reporting of the political tricks, policy contradictions, and intellectual dishonor he brings these day to every thing he speaks about. There is a real McCain somewhere, but it's the guy who barely got out of Annapolis, crashed jets allof his aviator life except when he was a POW, where he apparently had time to read Solzhenitsyn or see Charlon Heston in Ben Hur, and upon his return from captivity, embarked on infidelity and twenty six years of undistinguished service as a U.S. Senator for sale to the highest paying lobbyist, and a low level, no battlefield experience training squadron commander who learned to believe in war as the solution to all national security problems, and to ignore all social, economic, and constitutional issues as either beyond his ability or above his paygrade.

All I know is that it's tough to answer a three-part question when you haven't been asked all three parts yet!
The very fact that he was NOT 'sequestered'while Obama was with Warren should be enough to "disqualify" McCain;like a sequestered juror going out for dinner...it's not that they actually DID hear, see,or talk about their case-it's the fact that they COULD have.
BTW-Giuliani DID find a way to say "9/11" between breaths.Where is he now? I hope John McCain goes looking for him...

I met Congressman Lewis on Sunday and asked him about this very subject. I was surprised about what McCain said about him and even more surprised when I had the opportunity to approached Congressman Lewis to ask him about it. He couldn't have been more gracious. He said he hadn't been home Saturday night and so he didn't see the broadcast, but got seven phone calls from friends around the country. He told me that he and John McCain have "met a few times" and that McCain "brought his granddaughter to my office once." I asked him-"so you have no relationship with John McCain?" He said, No.
We continued our conversation for a couple of minutes more and he shook my hand as I left. I've met Congressman Lewis on a couple of other occasions, but he doesn't know me. In his typical form, he made me feel very comfortable and took his time to talk. There were several people around us listening to this conversation. As I left, all I could think of was McCain had used this amazing man, this civil rights icon to his political advantage. Congressman Lewis didn't say that or even intimate that sentiment, but it was only too obvious what McCain's game plan was. Shame on him, once again, for putting so little faith in the American people, that we could not see through his hypocrisy. This is not the kind of campaign he said he would run. He says that Obama will do anything to get elected...he should look in the mirror and realize that he just used one of the greatest leaders of our time, who he apparently does not seek the wisdom of. I'm not saying that John McCain does not respect what John Lewis has done, but he sure has a strange way of showing it.

As so many of those that have commented on this blog site, I too was dissapointed in the handeling of the discussion that took place on Saturday. If there are only 2 people being questioned by the host, how can you not know the whereabouts of both parties. To claim to have flipped a coin, when 1 of the parties had yet to arrive is disengeneous. Not to mention that Rev. Warren claimed that McCain was in a back room at the start of the program..... to not know where he was at the start of the discussion seems odd to me.

When McCain claimed that his most personal failure was his "first marriage," I knew that the wheels were coming of the "straight talk express". But when he mentioned Congressman Lewis as 1 of 3 people he would confide in...... I felt the "straight talk express" had derailed.

John McCain wants to invoke his having been a POW in Vietnam as proof of his heroism, and patriotism. But when the time came to recognize the significance of Martin Luther King Jr. and what he and those whom made sacrifices for the betterment of this nation, he responded with a lack of caring, concern and understanding..... This position, unlike being a POW, wouldn't require personal suffrage on McCain's part, but rather the acknowledgement of the suffriges of others and a respect and compassion for the plight of the generations that came before us and the effect that it's had on this country...... On this issue (as well as others) he's failed to serve this country honorably.

The press has a responsibilty to tell a fair and balance story about the candidates. That, is their way of being patriotic. Anything less, would further enable the prejudices that we're striving to overcome.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I had no respect for McCain as a candidate before the forum, now even less respect for this person as a human being. How low can one go to win an election? This very same man who accuses Obama of wanting to lose a war to win an election. As for Pastor Warren, he is responsible for deepening my lack of respect for religious leaders. Our nation stands by watching these poor excuses for role models, and we wonder why our nation is in trouble.
My question is why is Obama (himself) and his surrogates, D. Brazil and Mckaskill (sp) making light of this situation? They should be blasting Warren and McCain for the deception of the American public. They call the incident inconsequential. It is NOT inconsequential! It's tactics like these that allowed Bush to become our pres. It's tactics like these that confirm that Republicans make up their own rules because they honestly feel they are above the rules. Obama abided by the rules. McCain and Warren did not. I'm outraged!

Thank you for your input. This is another situation for Keith Olbermann to address, as he seems to be the only Media person to call it like it is.

As many "supporters" read about the various topics that surround this campaign, please consider this...... lending an ear to what's going on is a step, but perhaps to demonstrate true support, you should lend a voice.

I hope that the bloggers continue to raise issues and questions so that the media will, not just repeat what they hear, but actually investigate and report on the issues in a manner that demonstrates their ability not to try to influence the campaign, but to reveal what the campaigns are involved in.

I too appreciate the Keith Olbermann program and the likes of Ms. Maddow.

It would be great if surragotes like Ms. Brazil and others would be more vocal (more supportive). I'm not questioning their support, but suggesting that they can't speak out enough against a media that's unbalanced in how they report the news or ask a question..... These things have a very deliberate bias on how the listener hears the story.

I doubt the quality of some of these so-called journalists! They are letting this joke of a senator off the hook so easily. There is no journalistic integrity left any more. We need a guy like Keith Olbermann who is not afraid to lose his job over reporting the truth. And I can tell you, our country would probably be ranked first among developed nations for stupid voters. People fall for such ridiculous crap, especially from the right, even when they are badly hurting. Even a fourth grader would be able to tell who is smarter between the two guys running. I can't believe how can someone making say $100,000 think that a fool like Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity or Billy O would understand your day-to-day situation and so speak for you? Don't you know that the people who are paying them $400 million are doing so in order that they can use them their mouthpieces to spread their poisonous nonsense and in the process maintain the status quo, which favors the few and hurt you? Please, please wake and start thinking for yourself and don't allow yourself to be used like a prostitute

McCain has been in the Senate 26 years has never done on thing to help the vets, his record is clear he's voted against every bill put forth to help the vets Here they are and he run ads and says he loves the Troops while constantly undermining them with his Votes in the senate.

McCain's Votes Against The Troops
Here's WHY troops DO support Obama 6:1 over McCain

7/2008: McCain supports rationing healthcare for vets.

6/11: Republican magazine FORBES reports; "McCain's top economic adviser, Doug Holtz-Eakin, blithely supposes that cuts in defense spending could make up for reducing the corporate tax rate from 35% to 25%" ie., cut defense spending to cover corporate tax cuts.

5/22/2008: McCain voted AGAINST the Webb'sGI Bill. [vote 137]

9/19/2007: McCain voted AGAINST a bill to specify minimum periods of time between deployment of units sent to Iraq. [vote 341]

5/4/2006: McCain voted AGAINST an Amendment that would provide $20 Million to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for health care facilities. [vote 111]

4/26/2006: McCain was one of only 13 Senators to vote AGAINST $430,000,000 for the Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans. [vote 98]

3/14/2006: McCain voted AGAINST increasing Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes. McCain loves tax loopholes for corporations, since he voted for them over veterans' needs. [vote 41]

3/10/2004: McCain voted AGAINST an increase in Veterans' medical care by $1.8 billion. [vote 40]

10/2/2003: McCain voted to TABLE an amendment by Sen.Dodd that called for additional $322,000,000 for safety equipment for United States forces in Iraq. [vote 376]

4/2/2003: McCain voted to TABLE a vote (never passed) to provide more than $1 Billion for National Guard and Reserve Equipment in Iraq related to a shortage of helmets, tents, bullet-proof inserts, and tactical vests. [vote 116]

ya gotta ask, "Why does McCain hate our military so much?"

"The GI Bill was such a big victory because it allowed all of us to buy into the American Dream and also to continue our service to this country as tomorrow's doctors and lawyers and engineers and businessmen and women, and that is what this next generation brings to the table."

-Phillip Carter

American Veterans have suffered the indignities of government neglect after their service in the military since the Revolutionary war.

McCain has been in the Senate for a quarter century, and has spent his time there advocating against Veterans, though he as an officer enjoys the finest of benefits for his service. Senator McCain has a 'aristocratic' mentality that does not favor the lower class or women.

Some of you laud McCain for his blustery, in-your- face, military rhetoric, and accuse Senator Obama of being weak. Since 'the wall' fell in Germany, so has the level of your due caution. Have you so thoroughly forgotten the threat of a nuclear holocaust?

Liar, Liar
McCain thinks because he was a POW some 40 yrs ago we are supppose to vote for him....that is all he has and personally I AM SICK OF HEARING HE WAS A POW - Who cares, it's the 21st century and we need someone who can think and lead NOW - being a POW doesn't mean he has good judgement, in fact, I don't think he has any HONOR left after he has been proven OVER and OVER again to be a LIAR

Marriage
I'm just wondering.....

If John McCain's treatment of his first wife 35 years ago can't be used to help to define his lack of morality, then

why CAN he say that he know's wars and how to win them based on being a POW 40 years ago? I'm just wondering.....

If John McCain's treatment of his first wife 35 years ago can't be used to help to define his lack of morality, then

It was only 5 days earlier July 30, 2008 that the Senate was voting for the 8th time in the past year on a broad, Vitally Important bill S.3335—that would have extended Investment tax credits for installing Solar Energy and the production tax credits for building Wind Turbines and other energy Efficiency systems.

Both Wind and Solar Industries depend on these Credits—which "Expire" in December, 2008—to scale their businesses and become competitive with coal, Oil and natural gas.

McCain has missed all "8" votes over the last year—which effectively counts a a NO vote each time.

Once McCain was even in his office in the Senate and wouldn't leave his office to vote.

"McCain did not show up on any votes," said Scott Sklar, President of the Stella Group, which tracks Clean Techonology Legislation. Despite that McCain's Campaign Commercial running during the Olympics shows a Bunch of Spinning Wind Turbines—the Very Wind Trubines that he would not cast a Vote to Subsidize.

26 years in the Senate? Oh, see, his supporters argue that he's been gaining experience. LOL Experience at what? You tell me.

McSenile can't remember one lie from another since he has told so much of them. If this crusty fart, who has the Grim Reaper standing only a few feet away, is elected President then the US only will get what it deserves.

I'm vote Obama '08. Are you?
