Anchorage Daily News Calls Palin a Big "Orwellian" Liar
Hometown audiences can be harsh--especially when they are disappointed. After the Alaska Troopergate report was released and declared that Governor Sarah Palin had abused her office, Palin maintained that she had been exonerated. Not so fast, says the Anchorage Daily News. Here's how the newspaper responded to Palin's claim:
Sarah Palin's reaction to the Legislature's Troopergate report is an embarrassment to Alaskans and the nation.
She claims the report "vindicates" her. She said that the investigation found "no unlawful or unethical activity on my part."
Her response is either astoundingly ignorant or downright Orwellian.
Page 8, Finding Number One of the report says: "I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act."
In plain English, she did something "unlawful." She broke the state ethics law.
....If she had actually read it, she couldn't claim "vindication" with a straight face.
....Palin's response is the kind of political "big lie" that George Orwell warned against. War is peace. Black is white. Up is down.
....You asked us to hold you accountable, Gov. Palin. Did you mean it?
Bottom line: Gov. Palin, read the report. It says you violated the ethics law.
It's hard to accuse the Anchorage Daily News of being part of the Eastern establishment liberal media conspiracy that is supposedly out to destroy Palin. So how will the McCain-Palin spinners spin this one?

In a demand for honesty and truth, I would like to see this be a key question for McCain to address in the debate. Palin demonstrates a narcissistic personality disorder. Evidence at the debate...she didn't believe that SHE had to answer questions that she didn't want to answer. Evidence now, she didn't do anything ILLEGAL. Therefore, she didn't do anything wrong. She is an actor, she thrives on being the center of attention, she projects her shortcomings on others, she makes excuses, such as how those mean, "gotcha" journalists were picking on her, when in fact, she simply did not KNOW, and she exhibits grandiose thinking. She clearly does NOT possess the level of knowledge and competencies for the position she seeks, yet she thinks she does. We expect fifth graders to know more than she does about the US government. She also minimizes the seriousness of this.
Once again, the emperor has no clothes, and the lemmings fail to notice.
It is time to have leaders who have abilities to listen, and think critically, and to have the knowledge and skills desired to lead this country. We have had 8 years with the dimmest bulb in the box. Palin's academic record remains an unknown. My guess is she was the party girl, spending too much time with "Joe Six Pack."
Palin has shown many instances of LYING. Doesn't she get it?
Pathological people don't believe they lie, ever.
Megalomaniacal people have never made any mistakes, ever.
Combine the two
It is all her opponents, the democrats, Obama, and people that just hate her for no reason spreading these ideas that she somehow abused her power - she can't bring herself to face the truth - it is just too painful.
Susi, I agree, if in fact she truly believes what she is saying rather than taking the politically expedient way out. I am amazed at her going from mayor to governor and now VP candidate and thinking that her credentials actually mean anything as far as qualifications for this office. If she actually believes that she is a partner and will be allowed any kind of responsibility or authority a la Cheney, her level of delusion is awe inspiring. Unfortunately (for her - fortunately for us), she will wake up the morning after the election to discover Obama has won, and that McCain no longer is accepting her calls. When she discovers that no one else in the Republican party will take her calls either, she'll have to go home to Alaska and deal with everyone she's been stepping on with those stilleto heals and learn that sometimes, you do have to answer the question whether you want to or not.
