I agree, she and "57-state" Obama are both too inexperienced, which poses the question of American voters being particularly gullible when marketing engineers like Rove and Axelrod impose their under-experienced candidates on us.
I'm constantly amazed at the fervent accusation that Obama is a communist/socialist coming from the party that uses "Country First" as their slogan. In a communist regime the state is the most important thing. If the constant mantra of Country First uttered by all followers doesn't ring of 1984 I'm not sure what would. Sounds perfectly Stalinist to me. Evidently the McCain campaign has lost all sense of irony.

This is a quote from Gov. Palin to a New Yorker Magazine reporter made 2 months ago in which she boasted about being able to give $1200 to every man, woman, and child in her home state of Alaska which is sometimes described as a SOCIALIST state because of its COLLECTIVE ownership of resources.
In light of this information straight from the horse's mouth, it would seem that the Governor of Alaska who dreams of becoming one heartbeat away from the presidency can be labeled as a HYPOCRITE, SNAKE-OIL SALESMAN, DOUBLE-TALKER, or "SOCIALIST"!
Alas, I prefer to use ONE word to describe the pathetic Governor............"FRAUD"! ............ Plain and simple. And not a very clever one either.

Palin could be the best thing to happen for Progressives in a long time. While there is clearly a Palin "cult" within the Republican base of evangelicals, NRA gun-rights voters, cowboys and conservatives, there are many, many more moderate Republicans who are ashamed that McCain chose a running mate with minimal knowledge of and experience with important national & international issues.
A Palin run for the White House in 2012 will split the Republican party into ineffective chunks of Palin cultists and more moderate, intellectual, Republicans. It's a Progressive's dream...So, Go Sarah, Go!

Who you want for President should be influence by what priorities,what emphasis or policies you think are important to the country at this time. I'm looking for an individual that surrounds themselves with people that have skill and ideas. George Bush seem like a fun guy to have a beer with us just 'common folks', like ourselves. The single most powerful man in the US, David Rockefeller, put his money on Obama. How do we know this? Because Zbigniew Brzezinski, the man David appointed to create the largest military/industrial intelligence policy formulation organisation in the world... the Trilateral Commission... has also been installed as Obama's primary advisor.
Clearly, if you know how politics really works, Palin was nominated as running mate as an insurance that, by some fluke, McCain's real behaviour in Vietnam does not hit the Murdoch-controlled media. Palin will be the back-up sword that McCain falls on.
Why the need for insurance you ask? I'm guessing here, but I suspect Rockefeller has decided that an Israeli-dominated White House is now America's most dangerously exposed vulnerability and he can no longer trust fanatical Israeliphobe Murdoch to support Obama.

I certainly understand Jefferson's pessimism about average Americans and his insistence that they NOT directly vote for a president. A dictator is more consistent and predictable than she and, maybe more intelligent!
I hope they do run her in '12. The repug base she's said to energize is just that: base, crass, low-grades who go for slapstick comedy and pro wrestling. This explains their conduct at rallies. These are the un-thinkingest repugnants collected to fill the ranks of a racist crowd run by the rich for the rich, and vote for Reagan and Bush/Bush. The less bigoted now have a better idea.
Whomever gets out the vote will win, the bigots or the patriots. Sarah Palin's popularity shows us that our dreams are just that; America is not a nation of informed, rational citizens acting in their own interests and putting the future of the Republic ahead of their own short sighted desires. America is a nation of irrational individuals for whom the sensational always trumps Truth or Reason; Celebrity always trumps the Issues; and for whom the more spectacular, gory, and vile lie is always more interesting than reality. For too many, education is akin to torture, unless you have one, and then you're an elitist. You'd think that after 8 years of W, people would want a president who doesn't think war is the solution, but then again, whose kids are fighting the wars anyway? Mostly nobody who counts, outside of military towns. You'd think that people would want a thoughtful president, but a lot of people would rather shoot themselves in the foot, and sell their grandkids futures to the Devil just to keep a black man out of the White House. Of course, our idiocy will have its consequences, despite our determined insistence that "It can't happen here". We forget the Eugenics movement, rejected in most of Europe, but embraced here and which collaborated with the efforts of the Nazis to create a master race. We forget the experience of the Germans, after WWI, in the 1920's, which is an awful lot like what we could expect when a Palin presidency wrecks the nation. We not only think we can write history, but that our expectations for Reality is what will be seen as Reality. It doesn't work that way. We'll find out, and probably sooner than we'd imagined.
I'm a little late with this response. I've read 1984 way back when. Orwell, wasn't it? Also read a book by Pynchon called Gravity's Rainbow in which the main character asserts that the average person can never be too paranoid when it comes to politicians.
It's easier for me to see Axelrod's Rove-like manipulation because I live in France. The French press is in the tank for Obama but not to the extent of the American media.
In addition, the French opposed Bush on Iraq both in and out of the UN discussions. When Powell was lying through his teeth at the UN in 2002, the French were still arguing against military intervention.
Which is why the French people didn't particularly like Obama strutting into Paris this last summer like a President Elect and warmongering on about how France should send soldiers to Afghanistan... a plan which Sarkozy is presently executing. Young men in my apartment building will be going to Afghanistan to play out the war games of people like Sarkozy and Obama, people who have never seen battle themselves.
I certainly won't vote for Obama. How can anybody be so gullible as to think Obama will reduce our military participation when he has clearly backed INCREASED troop presence in Afghanistan not to mention military strikes in Pakistan should we deem that this sovereign nation is not tending to terrorists enthusiastically enough.
What if another country had decided to bomb us after the royal cock-up of September 11th? France had warned the state department that a plot was afoot. What if France decided that they couldn't trust the ineptitude of the American government, so they would just have to fly in there and do a few well-targeted air strikes. That's the kind of policy you're voting for if you vote Obama.
Vote 3rd party: McKinney, Nader, Barr. They're all better on the war than Obama.
