This Will Not Help Saxby Chambliss in the GA Run-Off

In an interview with WGAU Athens this morning, incumbent Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss, currently locked in a run-off with Democrat Jim Martin, said that we can "trust" the "folks in the financial community" with the $700 billion being spent on the bailout. Chambliss added:

"If the smart people in the financial community think this is the best way to go, I think we have to respect that."

Could a statement be more tone-deaf? The smart people in the financial community? You mean the ones who managed to sink the global economy? Those smart people? Chambliss voted for the bailout — his opponent is calling it "disastrous" — and it's one of the main reasons why Chambliss is vulnerable in deep red Georgia. I suspect we'll see and hear Saxby's comments in an attack ad, oh, tomorrow morning.

Saxby Chambliss is an idiot of sorts, but not unusual for either wing (D or R) of the perpetual war and loot the treasury party. The American People (of Georgia most specifically) have only themselves to blame for idiots like Chambliss. If voting for that bailout alone does not sink Chambliss' reelection campaign to the Senate, then the people of Georgia deserve all the poverty and misery he can vote upon them.

While a candidate should be supporting Robin Hood these days, Saxby Chambliss comes out in support of the Sheriff of Nottingham.

When I emailed him, prior to the bailout, to express my disapproval with it, and encourage him to vote against it, his response was typical Chambliss. He responded that he *had* to support the bailout because "to do nothing is not an option". Reminded me of the justifications for the invasion of Iraq. The financial folks seem bright to him because they are so much brighter than he is. He can only see two options for any problem; do nothing, or follow Bush's wishes.

I'm with Mike. Although I seldom take the time for runoff elections, I will on Dec 2. Chambliss must go; he should never have been elected in the first place (and I didn't vote for him then either).

Time for "Big Daddy" to go. Chambliss is a senator that has worn out his welcome. Complacebt conservative that is out of touch. His commercail confirms that the redneck Georgia boy must go....vote for my big daddy, what a joke!
