Climate Bill Passes the House

The Waxman-Markey climate bill narrowly passed the House today. The vote was 219 to 212.
As we've noted, the bill's cap and trade approach is promising in many respects but might create a dangerous market in carbon derivatives (or not). Even before it was watered down and porked-up with gifts to biofuels industry, it never achieved the kind of emissions cuts that scientists and European governments say are needed to avert catastrophic climate change. Recent polls had shown that most people believe in the need to regulate emissions, yet the Obama administration framed the issue as a jobs bill, apparently believing the environmental message wouldn't stand up to attack. Environmental groups were deeply divided over the bill, and Greenpeace ultimately opposed it.
It now heads to the Senate, where it is likely to find more support from moderate Republicans than in the polarized House. Even so, I've been told by some environmental campaigners that the Senate isn't any more likely to strengthen the bill.

The last thing we need is to STRENGTHEN the climate bill. Global Warming is a FARCE a HOAX. Climate bill legislation is not about PROTECTING the environment, its about CONTROLLING YOU and EVERYTHING YOU DO. think about it for a second... co2 forms virtually every organism on the planet.. PLANTS need it to breathe.. WE exhale it (which means a co2 tax is literally a tax to BREATHE and LIVE). This is all about control of your life and taking even more money away from you in the form of world taxes.
this BS global warming legislation is nothing short of depopulation.. people will freeze to death in the cold and die of heat stroke because the costs of energy will SKYROCKET.. the use of corn to produce ethanol is literally killing millions in the third world through starvation. this is neo feudalism. It's Eugenics.
GLOBAL WARMING IS FALSE... think about it.. what real evidence do you have for global warming? a powerpoint presentation by Al Gore? (a man who has a vested financial interest in pushing a cap n trade scheme, a scheme cooked up by Enron). THE EARTH HAS NOT BEEN WARMING SINCE 1998. WE ARE NOW ENTERING A COOLING CYCLE. if you dont believe me, google.. "record low sunspot activity" the number 1 factor in the earth's temperature is (not surprisingly) THE SUN. Human activity accounts to a fraction of a percent of total impact on the Earth's temperature. Asphalt roads themselves contribute more to warming than the emissions from the vehicles on those roads. Global Warming is designed to turn you and I into the enemy by villainizing us so that anti-human legislation can be shoved down our throats in the name of protecting mother Earth.
Meanwhile the REAL environmental issues like Bees dying off, and corporations dumping toxic sludge into our natural water sources, is ignored. WAKE UP

The idiot that commented on this article needs to wake up. And, the alarms are ringing all around his deaf ears. Yes, you exhale co2. And, so do 6.6 billion other people. They also like to drive cars that spew it in the air. Kind of like the way you spew senseless words. This idiot needs to do a little research. Actual science. Not some right-wing blog. The 5 year average has only gone down twice in the last 30 years, and has spiked every other time. And, do you really think that it has nothing to do with man?
People like this scumbag will prevent the US from making significant change. A selfish, right-winger that is willing to deny the truth for his own hummer (the car). Unfortunately, this pile of human waste will be long gone by the time future generations have to deal with the worst of it.

This is a bad move. The markets will be tied up with more regulation and recovery will be halted. The truth about global warming is that it is a disputed claim, and I'll be damned if congress is about to pass even more regulation on faulty science.
The claim "this bill will make jobs" is a crock. While some may be employed it will only run up our debt, you can not increase the public sector while the private sector dies. The public sector survives by leeching off the private.
Believe me when I say this bill is unconstitutional, unwarranted due to disputed science, and is extremely detrimental to the market. All production in this nation results in CO2 emissions, so to tax that would increase the price of almost everything.
If I was convinced this would save the environment I would support it, but I believe the environment does not need saving. Raising prices of everything, hyperinflation, extreme expansion of the federal government, I swear the Obama Administration will go down in history as one of the worst.
Well, here goes the United States' chance of raising its GDP, I guess we'll buy even more material from China to make up for the shortcomings in our own industry.
Higher energy prices.

The only problem I have with the energy bill is that it might lead to higher energy prices. A lot of people think it cause higher electricity bills, higher gas costs, and might even hurt the economy somewhat.The question is how much.
Also the while the US is taking a right step in direction to prevent global warming, other countries have to follow suit to in order to have a real effect.

The reason 5th graders in 1973 knew that dependency on foreign oil was wrong was because they had to sit in the car in long gas lines while their parents endured the embargo.
Over thirty years ago 5th graders knew.
It is time that idiocy is put in its place and we find our what planet we live on and what solar system we live in.
