$100,000 for a Palin Speech?

Sarah Palin's words of wisdom come at a high price:

A conservative Iowa group’s effort to lure Sarah Palin to its banquet next month has had an unintended effect: Rather than exciting conservatives about the prospect of a visit from the former Alaska governor, the group’s plan to raise a six-figure sum to bring her to the state has GOP activists recoiling at the thought of paying to land a politician's speaking appearance.

In most states, groups pay for speakers to attend their events all the time. Iowa conservatives are used to getting their speakers for free because their state holds the first contests of each party's nomination contests. But running for President does mean sucking up to Iowans, and if Sarah Palin isn't willing to do that, she either has an outrageously inflated sense of her own importance or she isn't planning on running. You can probably find evidence for either of those explanations.

I like the spirit Palin brings to politics. I like her down to earth style. What she lacks isn’t so much brains as it is confidence on the big stage. She can give a helluva speech. She can deliver a stinger that drive her points home. She hasn’t convinced me she can handle an interview and decifer correctly the intent of the journalist. She gets a little to defensive and lacks clear direction in her answers. I’m sure she’s working on it though. She definately has huge potential.

Gimme a break! She makes Dan Quale and Dubya look like brain surgeons. She has set a new benchmark for stupid in politics. She's so busy assuming that all journalists have a hidden agenda that she can't give a straight answer to a simple question like "What periodicals do you read?" Liberals are hailing her entry into the presidential race because she is so unappealing to the vast majority of people with brains. Her candidacy in 2012 will guarantee another four years for Obama. As for the "spirit" she brings to politics, she is one of the most devisive, nasty and dishonest candidates I have witnessed in this century. What "spirit" can you possibly be seeing, other than "Hey, everybody, look at me!"?

I did. It takes until you get almost finished with the whole thing to find out she never asked for a dime. Not a dime. The article was about "what if" she asked for money......

The article never claimed that she asked for any money, it stated that a conservative group is trying to raise $100,000 to get her to come speak. The article wasn't about "what if" she asked for a fee as you state, the article was about money being raised by a group trying to get her to come and the reaction of people to the idea of paying someone for the act of speaking in Iowa. I only bother with this comment because you seem to be implying that the article was purposely trying to confuse the issue and I'm so tired of Sarah Palin and/or her supporters whining about how the press 'abuses' her. The article was clear and people should pay attention to what they are reading.
