Obama Ditches Another Bush Rule
Obama overturns yet another midnight Bush regulation, this one about tired truckers.

The Obama administration has overturned several midnight regulations ushered in by the Bush administration during its waning months. The latest rule to get the boot was finalized in December 2008 and upped the number of hours truckers could stay behind the wheel, despite safety concerns about driver fatigue.
Whatever you want to say about the Bush administration, you can't say they weren't tenacious. They issued the same rule three times, even though the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C., struck it down in both 2004 and 2008. In March of this year, a group of advocates asked the court to reconsider the rule once again. But the Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration have instead agreed to settle (PDF). The agency ditched the rule and will begin anew from scratch.

So a good way to turn up the heat is to inform all those SEIU union members when they show up at your tea party, "So sorry to hear about your pention disappearing. Then when they ask what?, Explain to them that the Union coffers are empty and they have no money from all those years of union dues you paid them." That should light their fuse....

that's funny that you say that, given that those are separate funds that are legally protected. in fact, the money used for things like say, political action money, is BY LAW required to be voluntary and ILLEGAL to use dues for political action purposes. and given that by law, unions are required to be transparent in how money is spent, you are most definitely wrong. a simple check of the anti-union, 'unionfacts' will show you just how transparent these facts are. i'm glad you get all your information from youtube videos about seiu 'thugs' in Missouri. i would hope that you could, maybe, please give me some evidence, but you probably won't find anything.

Yeah, well, you're not the only one of the road when you're driving these trucks, and we're not "acting" based on what's good for you, buddy.
YOU don't give a shit how many people die or are maimed by truckers who are trying to rack up more miles per hour and per day than is safe, because you have "rights." Sorry, dude, but you seem to forget that you also have a responsibility -- I know that's a hard thing for a tea party type to ever think that might apply to them, but there are a lot more of us non-truckers on the road (and paying for it) that there are of you. Go make your own roads, pay for them yourselves, and you can drive at any speed you want. For the public roads, you obey the laws.
And BTW, if everyone does, then the truck rates will adjust to that you're not in poverty. That's called "market forces." If you want someone to blame for not being able to make it if you obey the legal speeds and time on the road, then blame your competitors who break the rules.

I'm not suprised about this at all. Obama has spent almost his entire fist year in office trying to unravel what bush has done starting with the closing of Guantanamo Bay and now this. I think the overturning of both these Bush laws was a mistake.
