A crash course in investigative journalism, the Mother Jones internship is a rare opportunity for new journalists to work alongside some of the top reporters and journalists in the business, and to learn the inner workings of multimedia national reporting. Since 1980 nearly 700 interns and fellows have passed through Mother Jones' internship program. Graduates of the program work throughout the national media world, for outlets ranging from the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal to National Public Radio to Salon.com, and CNET, as well as some of the best NGOs and universities in the country—and of course Mother Jones.
We also offer internships for those interested in nonprofit communications and outreach.
The Ben Bagdikian Fellowship Program will give you intensive training in what it takes to publish outstanding, independent journalism, to meet deadlines, and to work as part of a professional team. You’ll leave with practical knowledge, work that you’ll be proud of, and a network of friends and colleagues that will last a lifetime.
